Local Racers Named NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series All-Time Top 25

DAVENPORT, Ia. (May 26, 2006) - In commemoration of the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series’ 25th season in 2006, NASCAR and NASCAR Insider magazine named the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series All-Time Top 25 drivers this month.
Included in this prestigious list are two Quad City area veteran racers Gary Webb of Blue Grass, Ia., and Ray Guss Jr. of Milan, Illinois. Two more drivers from Eastern Iowa made the list, Roger Dolan of Lisbon and Jeff Aikey of Cedar Falls.

Other names familiar to Quad City race fans is that of the Kosiski brothers. The Kosiski trio were a mainstay of the NASCAR O’Reilly All-Star Tour that raced at Davenport Speedway and West Liberty Raceway. All three of the brothers from Nebraska, Ed, Steve, and Joe made the grade.

Although a NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series national championship was not a prerequisite, several former national champions appear on the list. They include Iowans Roger Dolan (1987) and Gary Webb (2000).
Rounding out the list are six drivers who began their careers in the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series and graduated to NASCAR’s three national series. They are Greg Biffle, Clint Bowyer, Denny Hamlin, Mark McFarland, Robert Pressley and Dennis Setzer.
