Blum Gets Fourth, and Moline Fifth Straight at Davenport

DAVENPORT, IA (June 9, 2006) – Another week, another race, another win. Kevin Blum continued his dominance at the Davenport Speedway. Friday, Blum picked off his fourth straight IMCA late feature at Davenport. This week Kevin started tenth, snatched the lead after a lap five caution and led the rest of the way despite a handful of cautions that kept bunching up the field.

Terry Neal and Ray Guss Jr. both had to qualify through the consi and finished second and third respectively. Mike Cothron and Jim Sandusky rounded out the top five. Cothron, Adam Oppendike and Jason Bahrs won the heats, with Terry Neal winning the semi.

The V-8 Modified feature went green, white, checkered with Doug Crampton taking his first Davenport win of the year. The race for the lead was three and four-wide at times. Jim Ross, Matt Stein, and Ray Cox Jr. all took turns at the front before Crampton took control on lap six.

Thad Wilson started directly behind Crampton in ninth and would finish in the runner-up spot. John Bull started 12th and finished third. Jerry Connors was fourth with Stein hanging on to take the final spot in the top five. Modified heat race wins went to Ross, Connors, and Jason Pershy.

Brad Tyler captured his second straight and third Street Stock feature of the year. Tyler started on the outside pole and led all fifteen laps. Ron Doolittle came through the pack to finish a close second with Tim Koehler third, Bruce Fosdyck fourth, and Randy Exline fifth. Tyler and Tim Koehler won the heats.

The B-Mod main saw Kevin Fitzgibbon take his first win of the season. Doug Burkhead led most of the race feature, but Fitzgibbon worked the bottom taking the lead with just two laps to go. Burkhead would hold on to second with BJ Jackson third, Dan Anderson fourth, and Mike Fluegel fifth. Jackson, Fluegel, and Pat Fennelly were the heat winners.

Keith Moline took the fifth straight win of the season in INEX Legend Car action. Moline won a three-way battle for the lead over Warren Ropp and Craig Peekenschnieder. Ropp would hang on to finish second over Rick Harris, Eric Barth, and Brian Harris in that order. Rick Harris and Moline took the heats.

Dustin Kay beat out Steven Phillips and his brother Justin Kay in the 4-Cylinder main. Dusty led early before Phillips took the lead in the middle of the race. Dusty came back to lead the final couple of laps for the win. Justin Kay would finish third, with Jeff Norton fourth, and Chris Zrostlik fifth.
