Yoerger Gets First Win Ever as VonDresky Takes His First Modified Win
by Ed Potter

MAQUAKETA, Ia. (June 17, 2006) - The pit area was packed Saturday night at Jackson County Speedway even with some dark clouds and lightning in the distance. Trophy Truck heat winner, Jed Holland grabbed the early lead of the feature with Bruce Yoerger taking over on lap four. Yoerger held off the Challenges of point leader Joe Bonney for the rest of the race to take his first ever win. Bonney was second with Ethan Milder third, Alan Staskal fourth and Holland fifth.

John Campbell came from his fourth place starting spot to take the early lead of the 4 Stock feature and held on until some mid-race cautions caught up with him and brought the field back up tight behind him. On a sixth lap restart Dustin Kay moved out front and wasn't to be denied as he was racing for the Double Pay Bonus.

Kay led the rest of the way and collected the extra money as he took his first Jackson County win of the year. Jeremy Campbell came from eleventh to take second with home town Favorite Kile Vohringer third. Dusty Miller was fourth with point leader, Dan Mohr fifth. Heat wins went to Justin Kay, Dustin Kay and Dan Mohr.

Hobby Stock feature pole sitter Corey Rupp took the lead of the feature and appeared to have thing going his way, until once again the yellow flag came to bite him. On an eighth lap restart Steve Harms who had come from tenth place took over the point and went on for his third win of the season. Sheldon Hunter was second followed by Brian Hagerman, Kevin Brame and Neil Patchin, in that order. Don Marcov Sr. and Jeff Specht were the heat winners.

Shawn Flagel used his outside front row starting spot to lead the first lap of the B Modified feature with first heat winner, Keith Feller taking over on lap two. By lap six Feller was getting some strong pressure from B.J. Jackson, but was holding him off. On a true last lap move Jackson went by to take his second Jackson County victory of the season. Feller was second with Flagel holding on for third. Second heat winner, Brandon Vorbeck was fourth with Kory Meyer fifth.

In a caution filled Street Stock feature it looked like front row starter Josh Wilson pretty much had things Handled. After five cautions Wilson still had things under control but last place starter, Cory Bauer had worked his way up and into a psition to put some pressure on Wilson and second place runner Jon Poll. On lap ten Bauer went by for the lead, and it was a good time to do it as the sixth and final caution flew for a four car pile up in turn one involving Wilson and Poll. Bauer got his first win of the year with Brian Bonney taking second, Mike Shrope third, Terry Rittmer fourth and Duane Rittmer fifth. Jon Poll and Andrew Chelf took the heat wins.
Tim Arp used his pole starting spot to lead the first lap of the V8 Modified feature with the other front row starter and third heat winner, Ray Cox Jr taking over on lap two. Second heat winner, Andy Cook was for the Double Pay Bonus but dropped out of the race on lap six. On lap eight Tony VonDresky edged out front with Cox in hot pursuit. By lap fifteen Cox was getting pressured by point leader, Tim Current. VonDresky held on for his first modified feature win of his career, with Cox and Current exchanging places behind him. Current took second with Cox holding on for third. Luke Pestka was fourth with Chris Geigle fifth. Bob Dominacki won the other heat.

Second IMCA Late Model heat winner, Ryan Duhme charged from his third place starting spot to take the lead of the feature and by lap ten was looking at lap traffic. On lap eleven first heat winner and point leader, Kevin Blum charged by and out in front. Keeping lap traffic between himself and Duhme, Blum went on for his second trip to Jackson County Victory Lane of the season. Duhme held on for a strong second with Jason Bahrs third. Terry Neal was fourth with Hershel Roberts rounding out the top five. Rob Toland won the other heat.
