Dirks, Havlik, and DeFrance pick up first wins of the season in an action packed night at The Hamilton County Speedway.

WEBSTER CITY, IA. (June 17, 2006) - The Hamilton County Speedway sprung back into action this Saturday night for another night of high flying excitement. After several losing battles with mother nature the last several weeks, the drivers and fans were able to once again come back to the historic venue. With 96 cars checked in the infield and a grandstand full of die-hards, it was truly the recipe for a great night at the speedway.

The first feature of the night was the Econo Stock feature event. Devin Smith would make an early charge to the front of the field and grab the lead. As the laps counted off, Perne Struchen would make his way to the second position and Mason Gilbert would follow. Despite Struchens efforts to the front of the field, he would fall short on this night. Devin Smith would pick up the win. Smith was followed by Struchen, Gilbert, and Austin Wolfgram. Perne Struchen would pick up the heat race win.

The Performance Electric Hobby Stock Feature would be next to grace the race track and with a heavy heart. When the Hobby Stocks went on parade, the pole car dropped back to salute the missing man formation for the late-great Jerry Dixon. Jerry Dixon was a long tme racer and a gentleman to the sport of racing for many years. Jerry had a long, hard fought battle with cancer and passed away Friday morning. Thoughts and Prayers go out to the entire Dixon family from the Pro Track Promotions staff. Coming to the green, two by two, the fans were ready to see the Hobby feature unfold. Brandon Toftee would grab the early lead as Curt Hook and Mark Haglund would make the charge to the front of the field. Al Dixon would race several others for the thrid position. Finally, a late race caution would make things interesting. On the restart, Haglund was able to power to the bottom of the race track, picking off two cars on his way to second. With two laps to go, Haglund would make the move and grab the top prize. Haglund would hold on for the feature win followed by Brandon Toftee, Curt Hook, and Todd Wilson. Brandon Toftee and Al Dixon would pick up heat race wins. Mark Haglund would pick up the Karl Chevrolet Hard Charger Award presented by Bryan Denekas.

The Conleys Trucking Limited Modifieds were next on the race track. Matt Northrop would grab the lead early until a caution would put Ryan Giles and Ryan Gustin on his back bumper. On the restart, Giles would power to the bottom and Gustin would make the move on the outside. The race for the lead would be three wide off of turn number two. Finally, Gustin was able to take his machine to the front of the field. Matt Lettow would make a late race charge and try to take Gustin on the inside for the last several laps. Gustin was able to motor away from Lettow and pick up the win. Matt Lettow, Nate Caruth, and Paul Atchison would round out the top four. Ryan Gustin and Matt Lettow would pick up heat race wins.

The Neighbors Heating, Cooling, and Plumbing Stock Car Feature would be next on the speedway. Jared Dirks had himself dialed in on the top side of the race track where he was almost untouchable. Dirks would extend out to about a 20 car length advantage until a caution would come out with 5 laps to go. The caution would put Mitchell Griffith and Todd Foster on the back of Dirks bumper. Coming to the restart with 5 to go, Mitchell Griffith would not hesitate going to the inside of Driks grabbing the advantage for the lead in the center of the corner. Coming off the turn, Dirks would power the right rear against the top groove and motor by Griffith for the final time of the evening. Dirks would hold on for the win followed by Griffith, Foster, and Adam Silvey.Scott Bloemke and Jared Dirks would pick up heat race wins.

The West Wind Logistics Modified feature would be next on the race track which provided great racing from the front to the back of the field. Denny Rosenberg would take the lead on lap one but it would not last long. Randy Havlik would be hooked up along the bottom of the race track and continue to lead as the laps counted off. As Havlik extended through the lapped traffic, Joe McBirnie would make his way to the second spot but, would have to erase a straight away length advantage. Coming to the checkered flag, McBirnie had made up a lot of ground but would be out of time. Havlik had his eyes on the prize and grabbed the win. Randy Havlik was followed by McBirnie, Scott Baker, and Denny Rosenberg. Scott Olson and Roger Nielson would pick up heat race wins.

The finale of the evening would be the IMCA Late Models presented by Dinsdale Motors. The battle for the lead for the first ten laps of this one almost covered the price of admission. Jason Hahne and Greg Elliott would go wheel to wheel for the race lead for the first ten laps. Hahne would continue to grab the advantage in turn one as Elliott would upset the car along the cushion in the center of the turn. Just as the fans thought Hahne had the advantage, Elliott would be on a rail along the top through 3 and 4 and go along side hahne again. Finally, Elliott would skip over the cushion handing the lead over to Hahne. Hahne would work through several lapped cars on his way to what looked like the win. Darrel DeFrance would make his way to the second position and thanks to a late race caution, would be given the chance to race Hahne for the lead. The restart would be with four laps to go, hahne again would race along the bottom of the track and DeFrance would follow. As they went through turns three and four, DeFrance new it was time to start making the move. DeFrance would go just above Hahne and find the run he was looking for. DeFrance would walk away with the win followed by Hahne, Greg Elliott and Al Johnson. Jason Hahne, Darrel DeFrance, and Jeremy Grady would pick up heat race wins.
