JERRY PRATT ENDS BROTHER'S WIN STREAK
Story byTroy Shanker

WEST LIBERTY, IA (July 1, 2006) - First race of the night at the West Liberty Raceway was the QCSA Auto Auction Hornets. Jeff Miller and Josh Franklin would battle for the early race lead when the green flag flew. After a caution, Jeff Miller would be challenged by Raymond Carpenter for the race lead but moving up through the field was Jerrod McMichael by lap three he would be able to get by Carpenter and Miller for the race lead. Joe Zrostlick would be able to move his machine past Miller and Carpenter for second spot. Zrostlick would run out of laps to run down the race winner of Jerrod McMichaels. Zrostlick would have to settle for second with Jeff Miller third, Raymond Carpenter fourth, Josh Franklin fifth.

USRA/Kile Motorsports Stock Cars saw Adam Bell lead the pack for the first four circuits before Scott Pratt moved up beside him heading down the back stretch and take over the race lead coming out of turn four. Scott Pratt looked like he would take home another victory but his brother Jerry Pratt had other ideas as he would be right behind for several laps before finally on lap ten Jerry Pratt would get by his brother and barely gets the win as they crossed the finish line. Jerry would end his brother's win streak. Scott Pratt would finish a close second with Adam Bell third, Scott Walker passed Greg Gill on the last lap for fourth place and Greg Gill rounds out the top five.

The Corner Tap Late Models saw a past Track Champion take the featur win. Dan Brockert would make his was to the winners circle but had to work for it as Derrin Voss and Jake Meier would be the front runners for the first ten laps before Brockert would steadily move his way up the field and get by Meier and Voss for the lead through turn four and down the front stretch. Brockert would go on for and easy victory with Derrin Voss second, Jake Meier third, Tim Rock fourth and Sam Harroun rounding out the top five.

Rick Hixson and Brad Dubil set the earlier pace during the USRA/Miller Time Modified main event. After a lap seven caution, Ryan Dolan would take over the lead but would last only a few seconds as Mike Thomas would get by him for the race lead. After a lap fifteen caution, the race leader Thomas moved his machine through the middle of the track in turns one and two but Ryan Dolan tried to slide under and ran into the race leader and ending Thomas's night. After that caution there were a few more as Tim Grief and Leon Wilson got together in turns three and four causing Grief to roll. On the restart and few cars got together in turn two which caused Larry Kelly to roll. Finally when the race resumed for the finall five laps Scott Stecher would take over the race lead but all the cautions helped Larry Herring to move up and eventually would get past Stecher for the win. Scott Stecher would have to settle for second with Brad Dubil third, Bruce Hanford fourth and Robbie Verbeck fifth.

The last event on the night was the JC Dubil Late Models which saw a scarey accident on the first lap. Going through turn one, Matt Gilchrist slid into Wayne Brau which created Brau to run into Mike Klinkkammer. Klinkkammer's car went hard into the turn two wall. Klinkkammer was shaken up and was taken to an Iowa City Hospital to get checked over. After the race resumed, Andy Eckrich would move quickly up to the race lead and never looked back. Point leader Kurt Kile would be able get into second place a couple of laps later. Eckrich would build a straight away lead on Kurt Kile as Kurt Kile would also have a straight away lead on his brother Kevin Kile as he would be able to take over the third spot. The cars would get bunch up as a late race caution came out but no one had anything for the fast running Eckrich as he would take home the win with Kurt Kile second, Kevin Kile third, Matt Gilchrist fourth and Chuck Mayerhofer rounding out the top five.
