Giles and Minnehan pocket first wins of the year at Hamilton County Speedway.

WEBSTER CITY, IA. (July 22, 2006) - Saturday night at The Hamilton County Speedway was sponsored by The Flower Cart and the Snowmobile Club of Webster City. Don’t forget this coming Thursday night, July 27, the cars and stars will be competing at The Hamilton County Speedway for the Thursday Night Thunder Fair race. $1,000 is up for grabs for the Late Model, Modified, and Stock car divisions. Also competing will be the Hobby Stocks, Limited Modifieds, and Econo Stocks.

Night #12 this Saturday night was kick started by the Econo Stocks. Early in the race Mason Gilbert and T.J. Mortenson would battle for the top position but an altercation would have both cars heading for the trailer. On the restart, Wolfgram would power his car to the lead until Perne Struchen would take the spot away one lap later. Struchen would not look back and pick up the win. Austin Wolfgram, Les Langfit, and T.J. Mortenson would round out the top four. Mason Gilbert would pick up the heat race win.

The Perfromance Electric Hobby Stocks were next on the raceway. Curt Hook would quickly pick his way through the field grabbing the top spot early. Several other competitors would make their way to the front but Curt Hook would show that this way his night. Hook would pick up the win followed by Kevin Schmauss, Rodney Slagle, and brandon Toftee. Allen Dixon and Justin Ades would grab the heat race wins.

The Neighbors Heating, Cooling, and Plumbing Stock Car division was next on the raceway and once again, they would put on a great show going down to the final circuit. Jason Minehan would lead the race throughout as he was followed by a great battle all night long. Several cars would all try to take the top prize away including Dirks, Foster, Griffith, and Wagoner. Minnehan would continue to pace the field with a rear view mirror full of front bumpers. On the final lap Foster would make his charge to second and take a look for the lead. Minnehan was able to gas it up along the top of the track and hold on for the win. Todd Foster, Jason Wagoner, and Mitchell Griffith would round out the top four. Jason Wagoner and Jared Dirks would pick up the heat race wins.

The Conleys Trucking Limited Modifieds were next on the speedway. Nate Caruth would lead early as Ryan Giles was able to make the move to second. Giles would try for the lead for several laps along the bottom of the track. Finally, with the laps counting off, Giles would make the move towards the bottom of the speedway and grab the lead. Giles would power his machine all the way to victory lane. Doug McCollough, Nate Caruth, and Matt lettow would round out the top four. Nate Caruth and Ryan Caquelin would pick up heat race wins.

The West Wind Logistics Modifieds made their way out on the speedway for their 20 lap feature event. Jon Snyder would power the primetime ride to the front right from the start of things. Snyder would work the car to the bottom of the track until lap fifteen when he decided to test the waters on the top. McBirnie would not change his line and stay right against the bottom through the turns. On lap 17, McBirnie would make the pass and power his way to his second feature win of the season. Jon Snyder, Dave Doughty, and Jason Wagoner would round out the top four. Scott Williams would pick up the feature win.

The final race of the night would be the 25 lap, 23 car Dinsdale Motors IMCA Late Model feature event. Jason Hahne would lead the the race throughout as he had a three car battle behind him for second. Darrel DeFrance, Todd Cooney and Jeremy Grady would all swap the second position during the entire event. Finally, on the final circuit is when things would get interesting. We would have one of the closest finishes the fans have seen all year long. Jason Hahne would lead the field to the white flag with lapped traffic up and coming. Hahne would steer the car through the turn to clear the lapped car and would put the 76 machine above the marbles leaving the door wide open for the Cooney and DeFrance. Coming off of turn four, DeFrance and Cooney would make contact and DeFrance would literally beat Cooney by a few inches coming to the finish line. DeFrance would pick his 100th career IMCA Late Model victory followed by Cooney, Hahne, and Jeremy Grady. Todd Cooney, Make Smith and Jeremy Grady would pick up heat race wins.

The Hamilton County Fair will be started off this coming Tuesday evening running through Sunday night. Hope to see everyone at The Speedway on Thursday night for our $1,000 to win Modifieds, Late Model and Stock Car show and Saturday night for Hy-Vee Kids Night. Bring everyone out this week to the race track for great entertainment and family fun.
