Marcov, Galloway and Wilson Get First Jackson County Wins on Fair Night

MAQUOKETA, IA. (July 29, 2006) - Despite the extremely hot temperatures Saturday at Jackson County Speedway the pits were packed and so was the grandstand. There were at least one hundred and seventeen cars crowded into the pit area. Three drivers found victory circle for the first time this year the first coming in the 4 stock division. After winning the first heat Scott Brundage used his front row starting spot to take the lead of the feature with third heat winner, John Campbell and Shane Marcov in hot pursuit. On lap seven Marcov worked his way between Campbell and Brundage to move into second. On a true last lap charge as Brundage and Marcov came off turn four for the checkers Marcov took his first win of the season. Brundage held on for a strong second with Brannon Bechen taking third on the last lap. Campbell held on for fouth with Dan Mohr rounding out the top five. Justin Kay won the other heat.

Trophy Truck action saw Bruce Yoerger lead the first lap of the feature with Joe Bonney taking over on lap two. On lap six heat winner, Alan Staskal put his Dodge out front and charged on for his fourth feature win of the year. Bonney held on for second with Yoerger third, Jed Holland fourth and Ethan Milder fifth.
Tim Bader put his Ford out front of the Hobby Stock feature and held on until the first caution flew at lap four. On the restart Matt Wilson took over the point, but two laps later the races only other caution flew and on this restart first heat winner, Steve Harms charged to the front and stayed there to take his seventh trip to victory lane this season. Wilson held on for second with second heat winner, Don Marcov Sr taking third by just a few feet over Bader. Brett Miller rounded out the top five.

Pole sitter, Dave Bielengerg took the early lead of the B Modified feature and held it until lap seven when first heat winner, Rick Galloway charged out front with Jarrett Franzen and third heat winner, Mike Baker in tow. With two laps to go Jay Garvey worked his way up to third and then into second on the white flag lap. Galloway took his first win of the season with Garvey second, Baker thrd, Franzen fourth and Preston Biggart fifth. Keith Feller won the other heat.
Street Stock first heat winner, Mitch Schmitz took the early lead of the single caution feature. On lap three third place starter, Josh Wilson moved his Ford to the front and held it the rest of the way to take his first feature win ever. Third heat winner, Shane Oberbreckling took second with second heat winner, Jon Poll third. Schmitz held on for fourth with Terry Rittmer taking fifth.

Scott Olson used his front row starting spot to take the lead of the V8 Modified feature and held it for the first half of the race despite three cautions. On lap ten Don Pataska moved out front and soon was holding off the challenges of third heat winner, Bart Miller in his Ford. On the white flag lap Miller moved out front and went on for his third win this season. Pataska held on for second with first heat winner, Marty Diercks third. Ray Cox Jr took fourth with second heat winner and last place starter, Timmy Current coming up to take fifth.

Pole sitter, Marty Scheckel took the lead of the IMCA Late Model feature until an early caution cost him the lead. On the third lap restart second heat winner, Joe Zrostlik took over the point, but another caution cost him the lead. The sixth lap restart saw Terry Neal charge out front with Kevin Blum and Doug Nigh moving into second and third on a lap ten restart. On lap seventeen Nigh moved into second with Blum coming back on lap twenty-three. Blum put on a hard chase but had to settle for second as Neal took his sixth trip to victory lane this season. Nigh held on for third with first heat winner Mark Preston taking fourth and Ryan Duhme fifth.
