Right place, right time, Ryan Leeman picks up his first career Stock Car Feature wins

RADCLIFFE, IA. (Aug. 5, 2006) - Saturday night at The Hamilton County Speedway was sponsored by The Farmers CO-OP of Radcliffe, IA. After a very busy schedule last week during the Hamilton County Fair in which there was two nights of Stock Car racing, things are certainly getting closer to drawing to a close in the 2006 season.

The night was started off with the Econo Stock Feature event. Perne Struchen would lead the race from the very start until Mason Gilbert would go to the outside to make the pass. Gilbert would grab the lead but would coast the car high and smack the cement guard rail in turn two. T.J. Mortenson would take advantage and move right along side of Struchen and make the final pass of the Econo Stock Feature. T.J. Mortenson picked up the win followed by Perne Struchen, Austin Wolfgram, and Trent Dixon. Mason Gilbert would win the heat race.

The Performance Electric Hobby Stock Feature event was one that would go green to checkered without a stoppage. Curt Graham would power his machine to the lead as Brad Schipper and Travis Prochaska would go side by side for second. Several cars would all vie for the second spot as Curt Graham stretched out a huge lead. Curt Hook was able to work his machine to third but Curt Graham would find himself all alone in the captains seat when the checkered flag dropped. Curt Graham would pick up the feature win followed by Brad Schipper, Curt Hook, and Todd Wilson. Brad Schipper and Curt Graham would pick up the heat race win.

The Neighbors Heating, Cooling and Plumbing Stock Cars were next to entertain the speedway. Robert Dilley would work his mopar machine to the front and lead the entire race until things would get real interesting on lap 14. Ryan Leeman, Mitchell Griffith, and Jared Dirks would all run right behind Dilleys machine. Finally, coming to the white flag, Mitchell Griffith would move to the second spot and look for the lead. Looking for some extra real estate for the slide job in turns three and four, he would coast Dilley up through the marbles and into the cement concrete fence dropping Dilley clear back to the 6th spot and completely out of contention. Mitchell Griffith would make his way to the checkered flag first, but was penalized two spots for rough driving. That would give rookie Ryan Leeman his first ever win in the Stock Car division. Jason Wagoner, Mitchell Griffith and Jared Dirks would round out the top four. Ryan Leeman and Robert Dilley would pick up the heat race wins.

The Conleys Trucking Limited Modifieds were next on the race track. Ryan Caquelin would take the lead early in the event until Nate Caruth would power up his machine and take the spot. Caruth would continue to lead until he put the car through the marbles in turn four allowing Matt Lettow to take advantage of Caruths error. Caruth would try one more time to take the lead but Lettow would slam the door and pick up the Feature win. Lettow was followed to the finish line by Caruth, Gustin and Giles. Doug McCollough and Nate Caruth would pick up heat race wins.

The West Wind Logistics Modifieds made their way onto the Historic Half Mile. Scott Olson would lead from the very start of things as Jon Snyder would run right behind him. Snyder would try several times on the bottom of the speedway to take the lead, but Olson was able to power away exiting the turns. Finally, Snyder would have to settle for second as Scott Olson would take home the trophy. Snyder, Joe McBirnie, and Adam Larson would round out the top four. Jon Snyder and Denny Rosenberg would pick up heat race wins.

The Dinsdale Motors IMCA Late Models were next to roll onto the raceway. Rookie Robert See would take the lead right from the drop of the green flag as he was followed by Greg Elliott. Todd Cooney would find the noise maker and would hammer it loud all the way to the second position. On the restart on lap 16, Cooney would waste little time going to the bottom of See and would take the top spot away. Craig Jacobs would try to make his way to second but would run out of laps. Todd Cooney picked up the win followed by See, Jacobs and Elliott. Al Johnson, Mike Smith and Jeremy Grady would pick up heat race wins.
