Cooney makes it four in a row at The Hamilton County Speedway.

WEBSTER CITY  (Aug. 19, 2006) - Saturday night at The Hamilton County Speedway offered plenty of wheel to wheel racing action around the Historic Half Mile. As the 2006 racing season comes closer to the end, you can feel the racing heating up as the points battles are coming down to the wire.

The night was started off this Saturday night with the Econo Stock Feature. T.J. Mortenson once again was able to motor his way to the front of the field and pick up the feature win. Mortenson was followed by Perne Struchen, Austin Wolfgram and David Calmer. T.J. Mor (bcjsmith@iowatelecom.net)tenson was able to pick up the heat race win.

The next feature event to come to call was the Performance Electric Hobby Stocks. Much like the last two weeks, Curt Graham was able to power his machine to the front of the field. Graham would lead the race throughout and by the time Curt Hook motored to second, he would be out of time. Curt Graham would pick up the feature win followed by Hook, Todd Wilson and Mark Haglund. Curt Graham and Curt Hook would grab the heat race wins.

The Neighbors Heating, Cooling, and Plumbing Stock Cars would offer plenty of excitement on this night as several drivers would vie for the top spot. Eventually, Jason Wagoner would make his way from the fourth row and take the lead as he was followed by Scott Bloemke and Jared Dirks. Bloemke and Dirks would try several times to take the lead away, but Wagoner would show that he was the class of the field and take home the top prize. Wagoner was followed to the stripe by Dirks, Bloemke, and Lance Deal. Scott Bloemke would also pick up the Karl Chevrolet Hard Charger Award.

The Conleys Trucking Limited Modifieds were next on the raceway and Nate Caruth and Matt Lettow would put on a great show for the fans as they went side by side for the first several laps. As the laps counted off, Caruth would break coming off of turn two and hand the lead over to Lettow. On the restart, Ryan Gustin would try to take the lead from Lettow through the final turn but Lettow would slam the door shut and take home the top prize. Lettow was followed by Gustin, Mike Winter, and Paul Price. Caruth and Lettow would pick up the heat race wins.

The West Wind Logistics Modifieds made their way onto the speedway and Mark Elliott would flex his muscle early. As the laps counted off, Scott Olson would make his way to the second position on the speedway but was no match for the Terminator. Mark Elliott would power out front and gone on his way to the checkered flag. Elliott was followed by Olson, Sutherland, and Jimmy Gustin. Jason Wagoner and Mark Elliott would grab the heat race wins.

The final race on the night was the 25 lap feature for the Dinedale Motors IMCA Late Models. Riley Larson would lead the first laps until Nick Pederson was able to motor around the inside. Pedersons lead would be short lived as Greg Elliott and Todd Cooney were on the charge. Cooney was able to power around the top side of the racetrack and take the lead away. As Cooney counted off the laps out front showing the way, Darrel DeFrance would come to the second spot and follow Cooney all over the raceway. DeFrance would try several times to take the lead away on the bottom of the track but Todd Cooney would hammer the loud peddle all the way to the checkered flag. Cooney was followed by DeFrance, Jeremy Grady and Jason Hahne. Jeremy Grady, Mike Smith and Ryan Griffith would pick up heat race wins.

Make plans to be at The Hamilton County Speedway next Saturday night for Hot Laps at 6:00 p.m. with racing to follow. Next Saturday night we will crown our Track Champion in the Dinsdale Motors IMCA Late Model division. Only two weeks left of the regular racing season at The Hamilton County Speedway and you can’t afford to miss it. We hope to see you next Saturday night at The Hamilton County Speedway.
