131 cars packed into the pit area at the annual Fall Challenge
held at The Hamilton County Speedway.

WEBSTER CITY, IA. (Oct. 7, 2006) - Saturday night at The Hamilton County
Speedway was the farewell to the 2006 racing season. The annual Fall Challenge
held every year to conclude the racing season was a another success as the fans
came from far and wide to watch 131 drivers showcase their magic on the final
night at The Historic Half Mile. Special thanks to Williams Drug and Pelz
Construction for sponsoring the event.
44 Performance Electric Hobby Stocks were jammed into the pit area for the
annual event and they would put on a great show throughout the night. After six
heat races and two B Mains, the 24 car field would be set. Doug Smith and Dustin
Smith would battle at the front of the field early until Dustin Smith was able
to take the spot away. Dustin Smith would continue to lead as he had Jamie Odor
and Doug Smith all over his back bumper. Mark Haglund would make his way to the
fourth position as the laps counted off. With few laps remaining, Odor and Doug
Smith would gas up their machines one last time to make a move but, they would
be out of time. Dustin Smith would take the checkered flag first followed by
Doug Smith, Jamie Odor, and Mark Haglund. B Main winners would be Travis
Prochaska and Dan Teske. Mark Haglund, Dustin Smith, Jamie Odor, Jim Lampe,
Donovan Smith, and Doug Smith would pick up heat race wins.
31 Conleys Trucking Limited Modifieds were checked into the pit area and after
four heat races and two B Mains, the field would be set 24 cars strong. Ryan
Giles would flex his muscle right from the start of things and take the lead.
While Giles continued to lead, he had a rear view mirror full of Ryan Gustin.
Gustin would try for several laps to take the lead on the inside of the speedway
but would have no luck. Finally, with the laps counting off, Giles would open
the high side of the speedway and Gustin would sling shot the gap. Gustin would
make the pass entering turn two and would not look back. Gustin would pick up
the win followed by Giles, Nate Chodur and Doug McCollough. Dan Hanselman and
Tony Olson would win the two B Mains. Austin Kaplan, Brett Ladehoff, Nate Caruth,
and Matt Lettow would pick up heat race wins.
35 Neighbors Heating, Cooling, and Plumbing Stock Cars were on sight to put on
one of the best shows of the night. Scott Bloemke would take the lead right from
the start of the A Main as he had Jason Minnehan and Jason Wagoner giving chase.
On lap three, Bloemke would brush the outside wall in turn 2 and that would hand
the lead over to Jason Minnehan. Wagoner would also follow Minnehan to the
second spot as Bloemke would slide back to third. Minnehan would continue to
lead with Jason Wagoner all over his back bumper. Finally, on lap 23, Wagoner
would go to the outside of the speedway and make the pass for the lead. Minnehan
would try to go to the inside and take the lead back and find himself sideways
through turn one. Wagoner would hold on to lead and take home to trophy. Scott
Bloemke, Rick Gustin and Todd Foster would round out the top four. Jason
Minnehan would finish scored in the 12th position. Adam Silvey and Malcolm
Teachout would pick up the B Main wins. Mike VanGenderen, Brandon Derry, Mike
Wiemann, and Jason Wagoner would pick up heat race wins.
21 West Wind Logistics Modifieds were checked into the infield of the Historic
Venue. T.J. Stalker would take the lead at the drop of the green as Mark Elliott
would look to move right behind him. Stalker would continue to lead until Mark
Elliott went to the inside to take the lead away. Stalker would try to take the
lead back on the inside but could not make it stick. As the laps counted off,
Elliott would continue to lead as Jimmy Gustin and Verne Jackson would move to
second and third. A restart late in the event would put the cars back in line
but, when the green came out, no one had anything for the Terminator. Mark
Elliott would cruise to the feature win followed by Gustin, Jackson and Randy
Havlik. Randy Havlik, Joe McBirnie, and Rich Lewerke would pick up heat race
wins.
