ANNETT AND TMC RACING TEAM LOOK FORWARD TO TOLEDO DEBUT
DES MOINES, IA (April 10, 2007) – Michael Annett and his TMC Racing team are
hoping to break free from late race handling issues that have impeded their trip
to victory lane in the premier tour of the ASA Late Model Series – the Challenge
Division. Many teams would feel a sense of accomplishment in a season filled
with consistent Top-10 finishes but not 20 year-old Annett and his Iowa-based
#12 Ford Fusion team. He and his team hope that they can earn some hardware for
their trophy case at their debut on the high-banked short-track of Toledo
Speedway for this weekend’s ASALMS Challenge Division’s “Glass Breaker 200”.
“I’m very happy with our performances so far but I know we can do far better so
you have to evaluate what we are leaving on the table,” commented Annett. “We
have qualified in the Top-5 and finished in the Top-10 for every race of the
2007 tour but we battle late-race handling issues and that has kept us out of
victory lane. Our team is capable of winning and we are going to try a new
approach this weekend that will help us with those late race runs.”
Annett, who is in his sophomore season of competition with the ASA Late Model
Series’ Challenge Division, powered his #12 TMC Transportation Ford Fusion to a
pair of Top-10 finishes in the opening events of the 2007 tour. His consistent
performances at San Antonio and Nashville have poised the team with a strong
position in the points’ standings. Annett will enter his Toledo debut only seven
points out of the 5th place championship standings.
"We had a great test at Toledo and I believe that the team will be able to
unload a car that is capable of winning the race,” commented Annett. “This is my
first race at Toledo but my crew Chief Dave Weltmeyer had some past success here
so he has a game plan on what we can expect and to help me avoid some common
mistakes. There is no better place to get our first win of the year than at
Toledo – it’s the tour’s first appearance here and also my debut.”
This event will mark the ASALMS’ first ever appearance at the historic Buckeye
State speedplant and is the Challenge Division’s third stop of the 2007 season.
Race activities for the “Glass Breaker 200” on the half-mile highbanks of Toledo
Speedway will take place on Friday and Saturday, April 13-14, 2007. A full event
