Auringer Continues to Dominate IMCA Modifieds at BCS

VINTON, IA (May 20) - JD Auringer, of Evansdale, continues to dominate the top position in the IMCA Modified division at the Benton County Speedway. Auringer picked up his third win out of four appearances at the speedway to lengthen his early lead in the point standings. Todd Jensen, of Waterloo, paced the field for the first ten circuits before Auringer would take over. Jensen kept pressure on Auringer for the remaining laps, but would settle for second. Scott Hogan finished third.

Brian Irvine, of Oelwein, looked to be the man to beat in the IMCA Stock Car feature. Taking the lead on lap six from Ricky Quail, of Waterloo, Irvine paced the field with Justin Temeyer, of Independence, in pursuit. Irvine left the low side open on the final lap that allowed Temeyer to capitalize in taking the top spot and drive away for the win. Paul Shepherd, of Marengo, was also able to get by Irvine to take second position. Irvine finished third.

Danny Dvorak, of Vinton, took the lead on lap six of the IMCA Sport Mod feature and powered on for the victory. Jim Buhlman, of Cedar Falls, scored the second position ahead of Kyle Bentley, of Fairbank.

Rod Grother, of Cedar Rapids, paced the field early in the IMCA Hobby Stock feature event holding off the advances of Chad Koch, of Marshalltown. Koch was finally able to slip by the Grother machine on lap twelve and held off Grother’s late race challenges to take the victory. Scotty Pippert, of Elberon, finished third.
Gary Pfeiffer, of Coggon, took the top honors in the IMCA Sport Compact feature. Jenna Barthemes, of Marion, finished second ahead of Doug Laughridge, of Garrison.

Mike McDonald and George Lewis won the cruiser feature event.

Racing continues next Sunday with a kid’s candy dash at intermission. Races will also be held the following day for a Memorial Day special.
