Brian Birkhofer Captures ‘Prairie Dirt Classic’ Title; Preps for Eldora this Weekend!

MUSCATINE, IA (Sept. 7) -  Brian Birkhofer and his #15b team competed in a lone event over their Labor Day holiday weekend, as they invaded the Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois on Saturday evening, September 1 for the annual 'Prairie Dirt Classic.' Brian qualified well and won his competitive heat race to earn the outside pole position for the $10,000 to win A-Main. The Muscatine, Iowa native took the lead at the drop of the green flag and was able to lead all fifty laps of the feature en route to the $10,000 payday! The victory over Jimmy Mars, Billy Moyer, Dennis Erb, and Steve Sheppard, Jr. was Brian's sixth of the 2007 racing season and gives him some momentum heading into the upcoming 'World 100!' You can view complete results from the prestigious 'Prairie Dirt Classic' online at www.fairburyspeedway.com !

“Everything kind of went our way at Fairbury on Saturday night and we were able to get the win,” commented Birkhofer this week via telephone. “Obviously, you have to have a pretty good car to win that kind of race, but sometimes things don’t go your way when you have the fastest car. Like last year during the Prairie Dirt Classic, we had a good car and got taken out by a lapped car.”

The Birkhofer Racing team is now set to make the journey to the Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio for the 37th Annual ‘World 100.’ The prestigious event will take place this weekend at the “Big E” and a $40,000 top prize is up for grabs. Qualifying and non-qualifiers races are scheduled for Friday, September 7 at the 1/2-mile, high-banked dirt oval, while the heat races, consolation events, and 100-lap ‘World 100’ are all slated for Saturday evening. Brian has made seven career starts in the “Granddaddy of Them All” and will be looking for his second globe trophy, as he took the checkered flag back in 2002. In other news, Brian’s shop was broken into Sunday night, September 2 after the team returned home from Fairbury. Luckily, all that was taken was a four-wheeler, but any information leading to the recovery of the stolen four-wheeler would be greatly appreciated. You can get into contact with Brian off of his website, which is located at www.brianbirkhoferracing.com.
