Davenport Speedway

DAVENPORT, IA (April 1) - After a long and tedious winter season, Spring has finally arrived at the Davenport Speedway and the 2008 racing season is just around the corner. The Davenport Speedway will kick off the 2008 season with a pair of late model stock car specials.


On Friday, April 11th, the "Fiesta 40" sponsored by Rudy's Tacos will feature the cars and stars of the World Dirt Racing League on the big half-mile track. Also racing on that evening will be pro-mods and street stocks.


The following Friday, April 18th, the racing action turns to the high-banked, fast-paced, quarter-mile oval for the Deery Brothers Summer Series for IMCA late models. Joining the late models will be pro-mods, b-mods, and street stocks.


The battle for the 2008 Davenport Speedway track championships begins Friday, April 25th, at the Koehler Electric Season Points Opener. Fifteen Friday night point races are on the schedule for the 2008 racing season, with the Season Championships set for August 22nd.

Weekly racing classes on the 1/4 mile oval include IMCA Late Models, Pro Mods, B-mods, Street Stocks, INEX Legends, and 4 Stocks.

Racers and fans are invited to the April 4th, Open Practice. The pit gates open at 5:00pm with practice starting at 6:30pm. Grandstand admission for the practice is free.
