DICKEY AND LUNDY SCORE FIRST WINS AT SOUTHERN IOWA SPEEDWAY

OSKALOOSA, Ia (June 7, 2006) -  The Casey`s General Stores USRA weekly racing series continued at the Southern Iowa Speedway with three exciting classes in action. The night was sponsored by Mike`s Tire and Alignment of Ottumwa. Two drivers visited victory lane for the first time in 2006 in the Musco Lighting USRA modified division and the USRA hobby stock division with the USRA stock car winner repeating from last week.

The first feature was the Musco Lighting USRA modified feature going fifteen laps with Josh Truman of Indianola and Brad Stephens of Bussey taking the green flag. Truman and Scott Dickey of Packwood would battle for the lead in turns three and four with Dickey taking the topspot and leading all fifteen laps for the win in the Larry Shaw Racing Chassie 40 machine. A good battle for second heated up between Todd Inman of Des Moines and local racer Brad Pinkerton with the two drivers going wheel-to-wheel for several laps with Pinkerton taking second followed by Inman in third and Brandon Banks of Washington in fourth.

In the USRA hobby stock feature Mike Shelton of Ottumwa and Ryan Lundy of Knoxville lead the full field of hobby stock drivers to the green flag. These two drivers along with Bobby Green of Eddyville and Jared Sanders of New Sharon all battled for the lead with three and sometimes trying four wide for the top two spots with Lundy holding off several challenges to take the win. This was Lundy`s first win at Oskaloosa in 2006 driving for Kevin Fee of Knoxville. Greene took the second spot with Al Bunnell Jr. of New Sharon making his first apperance payoff with a third place finish after starting fourteenth. Sanders and Shelton would battle for the fourth spot with both drivers being frontrunners before slipping back to take the fourth and fifth spot with Sanders in fourth and Shelton taking fifth.

The final feature of the night was the always exciting USRA stock cars going eighteen laps of door-to-door action with Trent Vrchotchy of Columbus Junction and Nathan Wood of Sigourney setting the pace on the start. Wood would lead the first lap with Eric Flander of Barnes City battling for the lead before Wood`s night would end with a top right front a-frame problem ended his night. The caution would fly on lap four for rookie driver Colt Mather making contact with the turn thre and four gaurd rail brining out caution for a flat right front tire. When the action got back underway Flander along with Rick Brown of Kellogg,Brad Pinkerton of New Sharon,T.J. Criss of Oskaloosa and Brian Mitrisin of Oskaloosa all battling for the top three positions with Criss taking the lead on lap thirteen and lead the final five laps for the win his second straight and had to work his way from the tenth starting spot. Flander took home a hard fought second place with Mitrisin in third and Rick Brown in fourth.

Next weeks racing action will feature three exciting nights of action at the Southern Iowa Speedway with the 3rd Annual Musco Lighting Great America Stock Car Challenge on June 12th,13th and 14th with the stock car winner getting $5000 and $1000 to start with the USRA hobby stock competing for $1000 and $400 to start with hot laps at 7:00pm and racing action at 7:30pm all three night with the Musco Lighting Modifieds joining the card on Wednesday night June 14th.
