BOBBY GREINER JR. AND NATHAN WOOD CASH IN ON BIG MONEY AT THE SOUTHERN IOWA SPEEDWAY FOR THE 3RD ANNUAL MUSCO LIGHTING GREAT AMERICAN STOCK CAR CHALLENGE

OSKALOOSA, Ia (June 14, 2006) -  The third and final night was held at the monster half mile at the Southern Iowa Speedway for the third annual Great American Stock Car Challenge with two time defending champion Brad Pinkerton looking strong after winning Monday night qualifying feature event after coming from eighteenth. Promoter Todd Staley worked hard to get a $5000 bonus for the two winners from Monday night along with Tuesday nights winner to take the Back Row Challenge with Pinkerton and Brian Mitrisin of Oskaloosa having the oppurtunity to win $10,000 but would have to start in the last row. The two drivers both took the challenge after a little help from the crowd cheering for the two drivers to take the challenge and head to the back.

In the Musco Lighting USRA modified feature Mark Elliott of Webster City piloted the 12E Harris Auto Racing mod to victory lane for hs first ever modified win at the moster half-mile, leading all twenty laps for the win. The runnerup spot went to the z-man Zack Vanderbeek of New Sharon with Brad Pinkerton of New Sharon taking third and washington driver Brandon Banks taking the fourth position. A good field of mods checked in with four new faces making there first apperance in 2006.

The second feature of the night was the twenty-five lap main event for the USRA hobby stock division with Dustin Smith and Bobby Greene leading the field to the green flag. The two drivers would battle for the race lead with Nathan Wood of Sigourney also mixing it up with three wide racing for the lead. Smith woudl take the lead but Greene would take the topspot but the two would battle for the lead but on lap fourteen Wood would take the race lead from Smith who would slid hig coming off turn two and Wood slipped underneath for the race lead. A charge from Curt Hook from Ackley would race his way from the tail to battle for the race lead with only two laps remaining but a caution flag would close the field up with Wood getting a good reastart to hold off any challengers for the win pocketing the $1000 and the beautiful purple trophy in victory lane. Greene would take the second spot with Mitch Hoveden of Decorah racing his way from the thirteenth starting spot to third and Hook settling for the fourth spot.

Our final feature of the night was the always great and exciting USRA stock car feature event starting twenty-six cars for thirty-five laps. The 4b and 17p of Mitrisin and Pinkerton chose to start last for the back row challenge sponsored by Musco Lighting, Southern Iowa Fair, Harris Auto Racing, Wayne Larson Racing, Doug`s Four Wheeler, Pro-Line Buildings and R L Promotions with both driver having the $10,000 chance if the won the feature. When the green flag dropped Tom Schmitt of Independence took the race lead and paced the field for the first eleven laps before Bobby Greiner Jr. of Ottumwa battled with Schmitt with both drivers racing wheel-to-wheel for the lead. Greiner took the lead and never looked back holding off twenty-five of the best stock cars in the midwest.  Schmitt worked the speedway to close the gap on lap thirty but woudl try the bottom side of the track and lose two spot having to settle for a fourth place finish in the 18 machine. T. J. Criss of Oskaloosa took the second spot and tried to take the race lead from Greiner Jr. on lap thirty-three but lap traffic would come into play and Greiner would work it to his advantage. Criss taking second with Mark Eliott of Webster City putting on a driving lesson in the 95 terminator stock car. Elliott worked his way from twenty-second to third in the 35 lap feature event to take third with Schmitt taking fourth. The two drivers who took the challenge Mitrisin and Pinkerton taking fourteenth and Pinkerton taking tenth.
