THRASHER, MOFFITT, DICKEY, STEINKE AND WIDMAR TAKE FAIR CHECKERS ON JULY 18TH

OSKALOOSA, Iowa (July 18) - The Southern Iowa Fair was held with KBOE 104.9FM, Oskaloosa Hy-Vee and Southern Iowa Fairboard sponsoring Fan Appreciation night with prizes and candy dash for ages 0-11 years of age along with adults winning prizes from Hy-Vee and KBOE 104.9 your station for racing. The fans payed $5.00 for five exciting classes with the Casey`s General Stores USRA Weekly Racing Series with Mid-America 305 Sprints making there second apperance of the 2007 season with fifteen winged warriors checked in to thrill the large fair crowd.
In the first feature of the night Mark Steinke of Gibson lead the field to the 
green flag for fifteen lap main event with Steinke leading all fifteen laps for 
the win in the USRA Stock Car Division on  his second apperance of 2007. 
Steinke held of several challenges from Colt Mather who tried several attemps to 
pass Steinke but settled for the runner-up spot with Nathan Wood and Josh Newell 
battling for the third spot with Wood taking third and Newell in fourth.
The second apperance of the Mid-America 305 Winged Sprints,with 15 winged 
warriors checked in action for action. Mark Widmar of Ottumwa drawed the pole 
and lead all 16 laps for his first win of the 2007 season holding off the 14 
year old superstar Tasker Phillips of Pleasantville who took a second straight 
runner-up position. The younger Phillips brother held off Rager Phillips who was 
driving the Bruce Clark owned 66 machine and took the third spot with Mike 
Mayberry and Louis Lynch battling for fourth on the last two laps with Mayberry 
taking fourth and Lynch in fifth. Mayberry took over the point lead from Matt 
Stephenson who had mechanical trouble in the heat race ending his night.
Our third feature of the night was the 10 lap USRA B-Modified main event with 
Cory Brown of Ottumwa leading the first six laps before Brett Moffitt took the 
lead and won his 5th straight feature of the 2007 season. Brown took the third 
spot with Paul Underwood in third and Andrew Schroeder in fourth.
The USRA Hobby Stock Feature went 16laps with Danny Thrasher of Agency holding 
off several challenges to take his second win at the Southern Iowa Speedway and 
holding off long time friend Jason McDaniel who took the third spot with Randy 
Veldhuizen of Eddyville passing McDaniel on the last lap for the runner-up spot 
and Bill Gibson of Knoxville taking the fourth spot. Three wide racing behind 
Thrasher thrilled the crowd for the final six laps of the 16 lap event.
In the Musco Lighting USRA A-Modifieds Scott Dickey drove his 2007 Larry Shaw 
Chassie to victory lane for the second time in 2007 holding of Brad Pinkerton 
who returned back to action after several weeks being gone and took the 
runner-up spot with Richie Gustin of Gilman in third followed by Ron VerBeek of 
Oskaloosa who went to the work area and still worked his way from the back to 
finish fourth.
Next week`s racing action will feature all four classes in action for the 
Casey`s General Stores USRA Weekly Racing Series with Kid's Night with 
activities for the young fans and future racers.
