KROHN KO`S FIELD FOR THE SECOND STRAIGHT TIME AT SOUTHERN IOWA SPEEDWAY

OSKALOOSA, Ia (August 1) -  The cars and stars of Nascar and O`Reilly Auto Parts USMTS thrilled the packed house on August 2nd sponsored by MUSCO Lighting and Aaron`s Sales and Leasing with Clint Bowyer, Ken Schrader and Kenny Wallace in action at the big 1/2 mile with there own modifieds. A total of 102 cars in action in four classes the fans got to checkout some of the best three and four wide racing anywhere in the U.S.

The night kicked off with the USRA B-Modifieds feature with the fourteen year old racer Brett Moffitt of Grimes taking the checkers with Matt Letow of Roland in second followed by Ryan Giles of West Des Moines in third and Cory Brown of Ottumwa in fourth. The USRA Stock Car Feature was a thriller with Zack VanderBeek of New Sharon working his way from the 18th startin g spot to battle for the lead with Brad Pinkerton and Pat Rachels of Knoxville. Rachels would build a nice size lead but a caution flag would close the field up making for some three and four wide racing on the restart with VanderBeek taking the topspot and held off Pinkerton who settled for the runner-up spot followed by Rachels in third and Colt Mather in fourth.

The third feature of the night was the USRA Hobby Stock feature with three and four wide racing and the finish of the race coming down to less than a car lenght at the finish line. Don Nunnikhoven would lead the first five laps before a three way battle between him and fellow driver Bill Gibson and Jason McDaniel would thrill the crowd swapping the lead several times with McDaniel and Gibson going wheel-to-wheel with the lap cars coming into play on the final lap with McDaniel taking advantage of the the lap car and held off the 38 of Gibson. Nunnikhoven toook the third spot followed by Danny Thrasher of Agency in fourth.

After the feature event Chase Mitrisin claimed the motor of McDaniel and Mike Leffler Jr. of Ankeny claimed the motor of Gibson and both drivers did sell.

The final of the night was the 30 lap main event for the Nascar drivers and the O`Reilly Auto Parts USMTS drivers with Jason Krohn of Slayton, Mn. flowing the knockout punch to take a clean sweep at Oskaloosa after taking the win earlier this spring and capping off the summer stop with a KO. Zack VanderBeek who run second for the majority of the night settled for a third place finish with Dean Mahlstedt of Clear Lake racing his way from the 17th starting spot to take home the runner-up spot. Nascar driver Ken Schrader of Concord,NC took the fourth spot after starting 9th in the 30lap event with Kenny Wallace of Concorde, NC taking the sixth spot and Clint Bowyer of Clemmons,NC taking the 17th finishing spot.

Next weeks racing action will be off due to sprint week and racing action will resume August 15th.
