By: Tony Paris

OSKALOOSA, IA (June 16) - After 8.5 inches of rain since last Saturday who would have thought racing action would of happened at the Southern Iowa Speedway. The folks from Community 1st Credit Union in Oskaloosa were the nightly sponsor for the USRA weekly racing program with all four classes trying to tame the monster half-mile.

The first feature was the Karl Chevrolet USRA stock cars with a good two car battle for the win just like last week. Nathan Wood and Shane Weller would battle but not before Damon Murty of Chelsea would lead the first five laps before Wood took the lead with Weller following. When the checkers dropped Wood took the win with Weller in second and Murty in third and Mike Vangendren in fourth.

The MUSCO Lighting USRA A-mods saw a two car battle with Ron Verbeek and Scott Dickey going wheel-to-wheel for the first ten laps and swapped the lead several times before Verbeek made his way to victory lane with Dickey in second followed by Steven Blattler in third and Brandon Banks in fourth.

The USRA hobby stock feature was a thriller with two and three wide racing for the lead. Andrew Hustead leading the field to the green and lead the first five laps before a flat tire ended his run. This would turn the lead over to Dale Porter who would lead till lap 13 before a motor would blow giving Steve Allen the lead and hold off several challenges from Kris Walker and Matt Messmaker along with Danny Thrasher. Allen had been trying to get to victory lane for six years and finally found it at his home track. The runner-up spot went to Danny Thrasher followed by Messmaker in third and fourth going to Todd Reitzler.

The final feature of the night was the Carter Manufacturing USRA B-mods with Bill Gibson leading all fifteen laps for the win. Gibson held off Tyler Groenendyk who took the runner-up spot with first time visitor Ken Kositzky who took third and last weeks winner Cayden Carter taking the fourth spot.
