WELLER STAYS PERFECT AT SOUTHERN IOWA SPEEDWAY 3 IN A ROW
By: Tony Paris

OSKALOOSA, IA (June 8, 2011) - With hot temps and a forecast of rain at Southern Iowa Speedway the action was just as hot and the rain held off. The final checkered flag dropped at 9:30pm with Shane Weller of Agency taking his third straight win in the Karl Chevrolet USRA stock car feature.

Nathan Wood paced the field for the first nine laps before Weller and Wood would thrill the crowd again just like the last two weeks. Both drivers raced wheel-to-wheel with Wood running the high side and Weller on the bottom side. On lap ten Weller would take the lead after Wood would lose his rear brakes giving Weller the lead and Weller would take a third set of checkers. Wood took the second spot with Kyle Harwood of Oskaloosa in third and Steve Jackson in fourth.

In the USRA hobby stocks Nick Ulin of Agency would better his finish from last week by one spot and was good enough for the win. Ulin lead from start to finish. The runner-up spot went to Dustin Griffiths who cut the lead from four car lengths to less than a car length but just couldn’t make up any more ground and took home the second spot .The battle for the third spot was between last week’s winner Kris Walker of Oskaloosa and Steve Allen also from Osky. The battle came down to the final three laps with Allen in third and Walker in fourth.

The Carter Manufacturing USRA b-mods would see Cayden Carter of Oskaloosa make his way from the tenth starting spot after winning last week feature but that didn’t slow him down. Carter would take his second straight win. The runner-up spot went to Bill Gibson who built a nice size lead but Carter found a way to catch Gibson and passing him on lap eleven. The third spot went to Oskaloosa driver Carter Vandenberg and four went to another Osky racer Curtis Vander Wal.

In the MUSCO Lighting USRA A-mods Steven Blattler scored his first win in 2011 after a good year in 2010 winning the track championship. Blatter took the win over Scott Dickey of Packwood in second with Ron VerBeek in third and Greg Cox of Altoona in fourth.
