Burgtorf Wins by a Fender at Quincy Raceways
By Jack Walbring

QUINCY, IL (July 16, 2006) -  Mark Burgtorf, Brandon Lennox, Jarrod Richie and Sarah Woodhurst all took feature event wins on Sunday, July 16 at Quincy Raceways during Rental Service Corporation Night at the Races.

Kevin Tomlinson jumped into the lead of the Budweiser IMCA Late Model thirty lap main event at the drop of the green flag and held onto the lead for the first ten circuits and two caution periods but Boone McLaughlin made a charge from his fifth row starting during that same time frame and took over the lead on the eleventh lap. McLaughlin stretched out the margin to the second spot as the Mark Burgtorf charged into the second spot on lap thirteen. McLauglin then held Burgtorf in the second spot as the two battled for the lead through the back of the field. A final yellow flag flew on lap seventeen setting up a clear track ahead of the leaders. McLauglin held Burgtorf at bay until encountering the back of the field again on the final lap. McLaughlin took the low side on the final lap and cleared traffic with Burgtorf blowing by the traffic on the high side a second later. McLaughlin slide up to the high line in turn four going for the checkered flag but Burgtorf dived low back under McLauglin setting up a drag race to the finish line. Burgtorf edged past McLaughlin at the line by a fender to claim his sixth points feature win in ten races. McLaughlin settled for second followed by Kevin Tomlinson in third, Joey Gower in fourth and Brian Kenning in fifth. Burgtorf, Nick Ingalls and Billy Genenbacker were the heat race winners with Matt Bailey claiming the win in the B-Main. Denny Woodworth took the win in the Summy Tire and Auto Center Trophy Dash.

Brandon Lennox made up for all his mechanical problems he has suffered this season by leading every lap of the Miller Lite IMCA Modified feature event. Lennox held onto the lead through several restarts with Robbie Carter, Ted Allen and Tony Dunker battling side by side for second. Lennox took the win over Carter, Allen, Dunker and Jeff Waterman in fifth. Lennox and Carter took the heat race wins with Allen scoring the hardware in the P&S Auto and Truck Collision Repair Trophy Dash.

Larry Powell lead the first eleven laps of the Bomber main event but it just wasn’t his night as a flat tire sent him to the pits during a lap eleven caution period. Jarrod Richie took over and held back several challenges to his lead until the checkered flag fell on lap twenty. Richie topped Jerry Jansen in second, Adam Birck in third, Steve Carlin in fourth and Travis Booher in fifth. Powell, Richie and Todd Reichert were the heat race winners.

Sarah Woodhurst rebounded from her rollover during the first lap of last weeks Hornet feature by winning a very close battle in the Hornet division. Woodhurst lead the first six laps but Darren Morgan slipped by for the lead on lap seven after a door to door battle between himself, Steven DeLonjay and James Leffew. Woodhurst showed her determination by battling back and taking back the lead on the eleventh lap and held on for the win. Morgan held on for a close second place finish over

DeLonjay in third, Leffew in fourth and Levi Long in fifth. Leffew took the win in the lone Hornet heat race.
