Tomlinson Gets First Ever Feature Event Win At Quincy
By Jack Walbring

QUINCY, IL. (April 1, 2007) - Kevin Tomlinson, Michael Long, Travis Booher and Levi Long all took feature event wins during opening night racing action at Quincy Raceways. The event was the first promoted by the new owners of Quincy Raceways, Mike Karhoff and Tony Rhinberger.

Tomlinson took a hard fought win in the Budweiser IMCA Late Model feature event by leading all thirty laps but it took a tremendous effort as he had to survive several restarts and challenges from some of the best drivers in the Midwest. Tomlinson first held off Rob Toland during the first sixteen laps and three restarts. Nick Ingalls then put the pressure on over the next eleven laps as Brian Harris pulled into the third spot on lap twenty four. Ingalls efforts slipped away as Harris got by for second on lap twenty seven. Harris tried in vain to get around Tomlinson for the lead but had to settle for second with Lonnie Bailey getting by Ingalls for third at finish line. Ingalls settled for routh followed by Denny Woodworth in fifth. Mark Burgtorf, Toland and Tomlinson were the heat race winners with Bailey taking the checkered flag in the Summy Tire and Auto Center Trophy Dash.

Michael Long grabbed the win in a Miller Lite Modified feature event that looked like it would be time limited as the caution flag flew five times in the first seven circuits of the scheduled twenty lap race. Mark Burgtorf challenged Long throughout the event as the drivers finally settled down after lap seven. The green flag stayed out until the final lap when another caution flag fell bunching up the field for a green, white, checkered finish. Long held on for the win over Burgtorf in second, David Holder in third, Henry DeLonjay in fourth and Ryan Meyer in fifth. David Wietholder, Tony Dunker and Long grabbed the heat race victories with DeLonjay taking the flag in the B-Main. Burgtorf took home the win in the Kelly’s Tavern Trophy Dash.

Travis Booher made good use of the outside front row starting spot to grab the lead away from pole sitter, Steve Carlin on the second circuit of the Hobby Stock main event. Booher then held back the challenges of Todd Reichert over the rest of the twenty lapper. Reichert settled for second followed by Corrie Eifert in third, Matt Burgtorf in fourth and Bruce Hatfield in fifth. Booher and Carlin were the heat race winners.

Levi Long made it a perfect night as the young Hornet driver took the checkered flag in both his heat race and the fifteen lap Main event. Long was followed the the checkered flag by Steven DeLonjay, Chuck Fullenkamp, Zack Bruenger and Joe Gollaher. Fullenkamp took the other heat race win.
