Budweiser IMCA Late Models Kick Off Points Racing at Quincy Raceways
By Jack Walbring

QUINCY, IL (April 29) -  Mark Burgtorf, Michael Long, Steve Carlin and Levi Long all took feature event wins at Quincy Raceways on Sunday, April 29 during Turner Brothers Garage/Rental Service Corporation Night at the Races.

Nick Ingalls jumped into the early lead of the Budweiser IMCA Late Model Feature event from his outside front row starting position and looked like he was going to be the man to beat but Ingalls slowed and stopped on the front stretch on the fifth lap. Ingalls was able to restart the event but by then, Billy Genebacher was in the lead with Mark Burgtorf nipping at his rear bumper. Genenbacher held Burgtorf at bay until the ninth lap when the thirteen time track champion roared by into the lead. Burgtorf then cruised away to the victory followed by Denny Woodworth in second, Lonnie Bailey in third, Genenbacher in fourth and Robbie Warner in fifth. Genenbacher, Woodworth and Lonnie Bailey took the heat race wins with Burgtorf claiming the win in the Summy Tire and Auto Center Trophy Dash.

Michael Long took yet another win in the Miller Lite Modified Feature event, his third of the year. Henry DeLonjay grabbed the lead away from Robbie Carter on the second circuit and held it until the seventh lap as the caution marred event only went eight laps of its scheduled twenty five laps. Michael Long used the low groove to take the lead and held DeLonjay at bay to the checkered flag on lap eight. Long, Joe Blivens and DeLonjay were the heat race winners with Long making a clean sweep by taking the checkered flag in the Tony Dunker Advance Trading Trophy Dash.

Steve Carlin took the win in the Hobby Stock twenty lap main event by leading from the third circuit of the twenty lapper. Carlin held Aaron Brocksieck at bay until Travis Booher got into second on the ninth lap. Booher challenged Carlin for the lead the rest of they way to the checkered flag but had to settle for second followed by James Leffew in third, Todd Reichert in fourth and Chris Rees in fifth. Carlin and Leffew were the heat race winners.

The lead of the Hornet feature event was not the place to be as both Jordan DeLonjay Rice and Joe Gollaher, who had led the first ten laps of the fifteen lap main event dropped out with mechanical problems. Levi Long made their misfortune his good fortune as he took his first point’s win of the season. Long led Zak Bruenger, Cody Griggs, Tajua Cawthon across the finish line. Taylor Lear and Rice took the heat race wins.

The Griffin Performance Center will be the sponsors of the next event at Quincy Raceways on Sunday, May 6 featuring the Budweiser IMCA Late Models, Miller Lite Modifieds, Hobby Stocks and Hornets. Pit Gates open at 3 with the Grandstands at 4. Driver Registration ends at 5:30 and the Drivers Meeting will also start at 5:30pm while Hot Laps begin at 5:45 and racing action at 6:30pm.
