Monster Jam Needs “Street Warriors” for June 12, 13, 14 Monster Truck Show
By Steve Eighinger

QUINCY, IL (June 4) - Quincy Raceways is seeking a lineup of "street warrior" vehicles to take part each night during this week's Monster Jam, Thursday through Saturday nights.

In this competition, competitors are allowed to “run what you brung”. But the competitors need to comply with a few general rules.

They are as follows:

-- They must have a helmet, seat belts (no passengers), no loose objects in the bed, must have doors, operational brakes and steering.

-- United States Hot Rod Association (USHRA) tech officials have final word on vehicle compliance, and all competitors must follow USHRA tech instructions.

-- All competitors will qualify before the monster truck show, with the top eight advancing to the finals later each evening.

Qualifying begins at 6 p.m. each day, all vehicles must be tech-inspected before 5 and drivers must attend a mandatory driver’s meeting at 5.

Monster Jam action begins at 7:30 each night. For ticket information, go to the www.quincyraceways.com Web site.

"These are very similar to "tough trucks," event manager Bob Bennett said. "The main differences are that in this particular competition, we allow street-licensed vehicles, and not just trucks.

"Obviously, we wouldn’t allow vehicles that are unsafe. But if a competitor was to show up with a car that was prepared similar to a demolition derby car, and it had all the necessary safety measures in place, then that vehicle would be allowed to compete."

"This means street legal or demo cars, just not any specialty four-wheel drives," Quincy Raceways official Jack Walbring said.

Each competitor will be allowed two pit passes, one for themselves and one for a crew member. Additional tickets will be available at the box office.

Each night there will have a $500 purse, paid back four places. All payouts will be after Saturday night’s event.

That structure is:
First place: $200.
Second place: $150.
Third place: $75.
Fourth place: $75.
