Mother Natures Wrath Brings a Halt to Quincy Raceways Action
By Jack Walbring

QUINCY, IL (July 27) - Mother Nature put a very wet and windy end to the racing action at Quincy Raceways on Sunday, July 27 during Heetco Night at the Races. All the heat races had been completed and the Triple R Performance Engines Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature event had been checkered flagged but after a false start to the Budweiser J&J Steel Late Model feature event, the red flag was brought out as the weather just turned too sour to continue.

Jeff Mueller got past Sara Woodhurst on the sixth lap and pulled away to take his class leading sixth feature win of the season. Woodhurst held on to the second spot to take her best ever finish in the Triple R Performance Engines Sunoco IMCA Stock Car division. Andrew Griffin scored the third spot over Abe Huls in fourth and Doug Huls in fifth. Doug Huls and Rusty Tobias were the heat race winners. Mueller’s win pulls him to within two points of Chris Wibbell in the points championship race, 474 to 472.

Sam Halstead, Justin Reed and Jason Perry all scored heat race wins in the Budweiser J&J Steel IMCA Late Model division before the rains brought the action to a halt. Jared Schlipman, Michael Long and Tony Dunker were the Miller Lite Modified heat winners with Bobby Anders and Travis Booher taking the Tim’s Machine Shop Hobby Stock heat race victories.

Up next at Quincy Raceways will be the International Eyecare Center Fan Appreciation Night with Adult and Seniors getting in for $5, Teens are $4 and Kids 10 and under are Free. Watch for more information very soon on exactly what the racing program will consist of for Sunday, August 3 as several racing events from the July 27, Heetco Night at the Races are still to be completed. The decision on how those events will be made up should be made in the next couple of days.
