Reed, Long, Tomlinson and Anders Score Feature Event Wins at Quincy
by: Jack Walbring

QUINCY, IL (June 6, 2010) - The Miller Beer/Mississippi Belle Distributing Night at the Races brought out a great crowd to see some great racing action at Quincy Raceways on Sunday, June 6.

Justin Reed came roaring out of an early season slump to take a big win in the Budweiser IMCA Late Model feature event. Reed took the green flag from the sixth row and worked his way through the field to take the lead from Nick Ingalls on the fifteenth lap and then held off a resurgent Lonnie Bailey over the final laps to take his first points feature win of the 2010 season at Quincy. Bailey held on for second followed by Denny Woodworth in third, Ingalls in fourth and Jason Perry in fifth. Dustin Griffin, Bailey and Billy Genenbacher were the heat race winners while Reed took the win in the Summy Tire and Auto Center Trophy Dash.

Michael Long put a “woopin” on the Miller Lite UMP Modified field by making a clean sweep of his heat, dash and the twenty five lap main event. Long jumped into the lead of the main event at the drop of the green flag and held off the challenges of Jared Schlipman to take his third feature win of the season. Schlipman settled for the second spot followed by point’s leader, David Wietholder in third, Justin Reed in fourth and Terry Cox in fifth. Ryan Meyer and Schlipman were the heat race winners while Long claimed the Advance Trading Trophy Dash hardware.

It was all Kevin Tomlinson in the Triple Performance Engines IMCA Stock Car division Sunday night. Tomlinson also made a clean sweep of the nights races by winning both his heat and feature event. Able Huls made a race out of the main event but just never had quite enough to make the pass for the lead and had to settle for second followed by Steve Steinkuhler in third, Terry Houston in fourth and Jim Redman in fifth.

Nathan Anders led the first eleven circuits of the Tim’s Machine Shop Hobby Stock main event but Steve Carlin took over on lap twelve and looked to be the man to beat to the checkered flag but Bobby Anders came roaring through the field to grab the lead away on lap fifteen. Bobby then held off Carlin at the checkered flag to take his third feature win of the season followed by Carlin, Nathan Anders, Jake Powers and Larry Powell. Nathan and Bobby Anders claimed the heat race wins.
