Five to Go: Sutton and Jamison 26 Apart Into Final Stretch

BURLINGTON, IA (Aug. 16, 2006) – As the 2006 Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders season draws to a close, two drivers will look to etch their name into the record books as “champion.” Just 26 points separate season win-leader Matt Sutton and 2002 champ Ryan Jamison as the series heads to 34 Raceway in W. Burlington, Iowa on Saturday, August 19.

Much like defending series titlist Jesse Gianetto, Sutton has seen his greatest successes come at one track. Sutton has kept the S&S Shortstop / Onion Farms / Maxim atop the standings since race 2, but all three wins for the Grit Motorsports team occurred at the Lee County Speedway.

Jamison’s consistency landed the Young’s Auto Mart-backed F5 chassis into the winner’s circle for the first time at the last round in Peoria, Ill. While “Flyin’ Ryan” has one more top 10 than Sutton, the points leader has three more top 5’s and two more wins.

Korey Weyant continues to be in line for his best career points finish with the Invaders. The Springfield, Ill. driver is still within striking distance, just 126 behind Sutton.

34 Raceway will play host to its 11th Invaders round in series history with racing scheduled for 7 p.m. Matt Rogerson is the all-time win-leader with 4 victories. Most recent 34 Raceway winner Jerrod Hull owns three wins, while Bobby Hawks, Terry McCarl, and Mike Reinke have one win each.
