CORNELL TAKES MID-AMERICA 305 WINGED SPRINTS AT WINSTON SPEEDWAY

WINSTON, MO. (Sept. 2, 2006) - The first ever appearance for the Mid-America 305 Winged Sprints saw twenty-two cars check in for the Miller Lite 305 shootout with $750 on the line and $125 to start the staff at Winston did a great job with promoting the sprints with a large crowd on had to experience the winged warriors.

The front row saw Bob Lamb of Mitchellville, Iowa and Terry Moore of Grain Valley, Missouri bring the field to the green flag for twenty laps of action. Lamb would pace the field till lap nine when Steve Breazeale of Trenton, MO. would close the gap and make the pass off turn two and open up a three car length lead over Lamb but caution would fly closing the field back up with ten laps remaining.

The 66 Bruce Clark owned sprint with Breazeale would pace the field till lap fifteen but several caution flags and a red flag for two cars getting together in turn two stopping the race action and giving drivers a chance for tear-offs and to add fuel.

On the restart Breazeale would lead the field to the green on the restart with Lamb in second and Jonathan Cornell of Sedalia, MO. trying to work past Lamb but the caution flag flew for Chad Husted of Jamesport, MO. setting in turns three and four.

On the restart Breazeale would try to hold off Cornell but the 28 machine made the pass off turn two for the lead and crossed the checkers ahead of Breazeale who took a close second with Lamb in third and the fourth spot went to Jack Potter of Pleasent Hill, MO. who charged his way from the eleventh starting spot and Louis Lynch of Glenwood, MO. racing his way to fifth after starting tenth.

The fine folks from Weld Wheels of Kansas City awarded two $100 gift certificates to Jack Potter and Dave Bouzek of Trenton, Mo. and the fine Folks from Hy-Vee Foods stores of Trenton and Chillicothe also added some bonus money for several mystery spots along with O`Reilly Auto Parts of Trenton, MO.

The next race will be Saturday Night at the Eldon Raceway in Eldon, Iowa with some driver walking away with $1500 top prize money with hot laps at 5:45pm and racing action to follow at 6:30pm for the traditional Michael Peterson Memorial Race.
