KNOXVILLE, IA  (May 12) - Warm temps and clear skies graced the English Creek Speedway for the first point race of the season Friday night.

A good crowd of fans were on hand to watch a strong field of 48 karts put on a outstanding show on the 1/6th mile high-banked oval. An intense moment during the Open/500cc 3rd Heat when Rookie Serena Paul of Monroe got into the wall coming off turn 2 and took a wild ride. She was able to walk away but obviously disappointed. Although there were many late-race battles for positions, the most exciting could arguably be the Micro Sprint A-Feature as Carson McCarl of Altoona, made a bold pass in turns 3 & 4 to pass Bloomfield's Brian Birchmier to take the white flag and the checkereds the next time around. Colten Roorda cruised to victory in the R-Box Stock class, as did Jake Sharp in the Box Stock and Ryan O'Neal in the 125cc. Jamie Ball held off a hard charging Nick DeMoss for the Open/500cc win.

The next scheduled event at the English Creek Speedway comes next Friday, May 18, with "Double Dash" Night. Gates open at 5:30pm with Hot Laps at 7:15.

English Creek Speedway is Iowa's Premier Outlaw Dirt Kart facility, featuring the Restrictor Box Stock, Box Stock, 125cc Karts, 500cc Outlaw Karts and Micro Sprint divisions. You can witness the action first-hand on Friday nights and Saturday afternoons, April through September, as they battle for points around the 1/6-mile high banked clay oval.
