JETMORE MOTORPLEX TO OPEN IN 2007
by: Terry J Pfeifer

JETMORE, KS (May 12) - Just as it seemed the Jetmore Motorplex in Jetmore, Ks would remained closed in 2007, new life has been given to the popular 3/8 mile high bank dirt oval in SW Kansas. Rick Salem, founder of the United Rebel Sprint Series and promoter of special events at the Oberlin Speedway in Oberlin, Ks. has reached an agreement with the owners of the Jetmore Motorplex and the City of Jetmore to operate the track for 6 to 8 special events through the summer.

This is too nice of a facility and racetrack, with great fans, to allow it to just sit idle and I’m excited to be given the opportunity to carry on the great racing tradition that the Motorplex has built, said Salem.

The first race on the schedule will be Sunday afternoon at 1:00 pm on May 27th when the URSS Sprint cars will come to town for their first of two visits and will be a tie in with the "Jetmore All School Reunion" Weekend Festivities. Joining the URSS Sprint Cars on the Racing Card will be the Super Stocks and Stocks. This will be a great way to cap off the Memorial Day weekend with the fast paced racing action at the 3/8’s mile oval.

Saturday night, June 16th, will be the next special event, as the URSS 305 Sprint Cars will return to the Motorplex for the "Second Annual Jetmore 305 Nationals". This event is sure to bring the cream of the crop of the 305 Sprint Car Ranks to the JMI Facility. Last year, 23 Sprint Cars took to the track and battled for the 305 Nationals Title, with JMI regular Brandon Fisher of Ensign, Kansas taking the win. With the growth of the URSS and the 305 class in the area, look for this year’s field of Sprint Cars to top the 40 car mark as they do battle for the $1,000 winners share. Joining the Sprint Cars will be the Modifieds, Stock and Super Stock Classes and it’s sure to provide fans with one of the best races of the year.

Although Salem is still in the working stages of the schedule, he has also booked the ASCS 360 Sprint Cars to come to the Motorplex on Friday night, August the 31st and is negotiating a BST modified special as soon as a date can be worked out. Additional dates will be added as they are secured. For information call Rick Salem at 786-475-7010 or e-mail him at rksalem@eaglecom.net
