McHENRY, IL (Aug 31) - The IRA 410 Outlaw Sprints have several 2007 race dates left on their schedule. Beginning this weekend, IRA has four consecutive doubleheader weekends remaining before their September 29th finale.
Labor Day Weekend has the upper Midwest's premier traveling series running Saturday at Charter Raceway Park in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. Sunday night the IRA takes to the Seymour Speedway, Seymour is located just west of Green Bay and is new to the IRA schedule for most as it's been since 1989 that sprints last ran there. Sprint fans will be impressed now by this updated fairgrounds venue featuring an ultra-wide semi-banked third-mile. September 7th has IRA headlining the annual Northern Nationals at Superior Speedway, then on the 8th it's one of IRA's jewels,
The Jerry Richert Memorial IRA/Knoxville/NOSA Challange at highbanked Cedar Lake Speedway. The next weekend offers a pair of big fast fairground half-miles to the mix as the series travels to Antigo, WI and the Langlade Co. Speedway for it's Summer Sizzler make-up date on the 14th. The 15th has IRA at Beaver Dam's Dodge Co. Fairgrounds Speedway for the 3rd annual Dick Witt Checkered Classic, a memorial tribute to IRA's long time flagman. On a side note for fans, the World of Outlaws will be running their make-up date at Beaver Dam's other track, Charter Raceway Park, on Sunday the 16th making for a great 3-day sprint car weekend.
On Friday the 21st IRA hits the popular Oshkosh SpeedZone Raceway before
heading down to the Illinois banked quarter-mile LaSalle Speedway to headline
the Illinois Valley Fall Sprint Car Classic on Saturday the 22nd. The IRA season
concludes Saturday night September 29th at Sheboygan Co. Fair Park in Plymouth,
WI with the traditional Frank Filskov Memorial Fall Classic. A raindate of
Sunday the 30th is in place for the Filskov event, though hopefully it won't be
needed as the first annual IRA Golf/Party is scheduled for Sunday at the Golf
Club @ Camelot, a great way to end the season with family, friends, fans, and
sponsors.
Minnesota's Travis Whitney leads the point chase going into this grueling
stretch, though the Wisconsin contingent of Mike Reinke, Scotty Neitzel, Steve
Meyer, Donny Goeden, John Haeni and Scott Biertzer still hold championship
dreams. Ironically, a Packers vs Vikings game will be on in the clubhouse lounge
during the season ending golf/party. This could be very interesting!
The IRA saves it's biggest month for last, the September Chase For The
Championship, winged/410 sprint car style. 410 winged sprint car racing is alive
and well in Wisconsin. IRA is an ASA affiliated series.
