Sprint Invaders Schedule Swells to 23

Burlington, Iowa (Jan. 19, 2007) – Five additional points-paying events now appear on the schedule for the Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders. The 2007 slate now includes 23 events, 21 of which will offer championship points. Among the new additions are CJ Raceway, Quincy Raceway, West Liberty Raceway, and Lake Ozark Speedway.

CJ Raceway in Columbus Junction, Iowa, returns after a year hiatus from the schedule. The Louisa County 3/8-mile will host its seventh Invaders event on Sunday, May 27. In the six prior events, Team Gianetto owns four wins. Three of those propelled Jesse Gianetto to the championship in 2005. The other was with Kerry Madsen in a substitution role. Bobby Hawks and Jerrod Hull have also been in CJ’s victory lane.

Eleven days later, the series returns to the tight ¼-mile Quincy Raceway in West Central, Illinois. Ricky Logan of Little Rock, AR, earned his first-ever SIA win at the facility a year ago. Former area Late Model and Modified standout Mike Karhoff and local tavern owner Tony Rhinberger have taken over ownership from track staples Bob Scott and family.

The series also returns to West Liberty Raceway for the Tuesday, July 3, running of the “Firecracker 50.” The series’ only points-paying half-mile now has Keith Simmons and SPI in charge of weekly operations. The format is expected to mirror last year’s Sprint Car /Late Model 25-lap doubleheader.

The Invaders will participate in the 2007 version of the Lake Ozark Speedway 360 Nationals, along with the O’Reilly’s Winged Outlaw Warriors. The Labor Day event will again feature two separate shows on Saturday and Sunday at Howard Schrock’s facility.
