Mechanical problems bring disappointing finish for John Hall
by: Stacy Ervin

MARION, IOWA (May 24) - Mechanical issues and a heavy race track combined to bring a disappointing finish for John Hall and the Left Turn Enterprises racing team on Saturday, May 24, at the Sprint Car Capitol of the World, Knoxville Raceway, in Knoxville, Iowa.

A pair of 19th place finishes in the first two main events of the Knoxville Championship Cup Series season had given the team a slow but sure start. However, Saturday found the No. 7H ending up 18th out of 21 competitors in the night's consolation event after mechanical problems surfaced.

The night started on a good note, with hot-lap times which saw him 20th out of the 37 competitors in the 360 division and a draw for starting position that found Hall racing off from fourth place in his heat race.

Unfortunately, it was a race stacked with strong competitors and Hall lost two spots to Jon Agan and Matt Moro, who turned the fastest and second-fastest laps, respectively, in warm-up sessions. After the pair got by, Hall maintained his line and finished sixth on a track made very sticky after heavy rain.

Unfortunately, the sixth-place finish was only good enough to put Hall in the eighth starting spot of the night's B-Main. But his luck turned even worse when the problems surfaced and he elected to start at the tail of that event due to uncertainty over what the car might do. After completing five laps, half of this race, he decided to pull to the infield.

The car, which is owned by Charles and Doris Hall, should be back in action on Saturday, May 31, for the fourth round of Knoxville Championship Cup Series racing this year. Crew members are Darrell Bonesteel, Cole Page, Cass Page and Steve Lindell.

Sponsors include Maxim Racing, Parker Engines, APC Emmert Metal Fabricators, Super Shox, Chalk Stix Torsion Bars, Brake Man Brake Systems, Marion Dairy Queen, Thompson Aero Service and Seal-It International.

The team is actively seeking additional funding to help with its racing effort.
