State legislators are special sponsors for John Hall Racing
by: Stacy Ervin

MARION, IOWA (July 11, 2008)--John Hall and the Left Turn Enterprises racing team are pleased to welcome Iowa Senator Jim Hahn and Representative Jeff Kaufmann as special sponsors for the Sprint Invaders Association series race on Sunday, July 13, at the Cedar County Fair in Tipton, Iowa.

The sprint-car racing veteran plans to run at his usual weekly venue at the Sprint Car Capital of the World in Knoxville, Iowa, on Saturday, before competing closer to his Marion, Iowa, home at the Tipton Speedway on Sunday.

As part of the special appearance, Hahn and Kaufmann, who are both seeking re-election to the Iowa legislature this November, have formed a partnership with the team. Both legislators serve Cedar County, as well as portions of Muscatine and Johnson counties.

Hahn, a Republican from Muscatine, will be seeking his second term in District 40 of the Iowa Senate. Before being elected to the seat in 2004, he served as a state representative from 1990 to 2004. He currently serves as the ranking member of the Administration and Regulation committee and also serves on committees for Appropriations, Economic Growth, Labor and Business Relations and State Government. Hahn is in real-estate sales and was formerly an insurance adjuster and property management specialist. He also farmed a family hog operation, and has connections to a family fruit and vegetable sales operation and a family sand and gravel ready mix business.

Kaufmann, a Republican from Wilton, will be seeking his third term in District 79 of the Iowa House of Representatives. Now the assistant minority leader, he was first elected in 2004 and was re-elected in 2006. He currently serves as the ranking member of the Local Government committee and also serves on committees for Administration and Rules, Education, State Government and Ways and Means. Kaufmann is a seventh-generation livestock farmer on his family's Century Farm and is a department chair and professor at Muscatine Community College.

The race car is owned by Charles and Doris Hall. Crew members are Darrell Bonesteel, Cole Page, Cass Page and Steve Lindell.

Regular sponsors include Maxim Racing, Parker Engines, APC Emmert Metal Fabricators, Super Shox, Chalk Stix Torsion Bars, Marion Dairy Queen, Brake Man Brake Systems, Thompson Aero Service and Seal-It International.

The team is actively seeking additional funding to help with its racing effort.
