August brings learning experiences for John Hall

by: Stacy Ervin

MARION, IOWA (August 16, 2008)--John Hall's Left Turn Enterprises racing team has seen its share of struggles this season, but the month of August has brought some new experiences with the potential to bring back good finishes.

After two weekends off from racing, the team was back in action on Saturday, August 16, at the Sprint Invaders Association “Night of the Twins” at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa. The team took advantage of its time off by testing at the track on Sunday, August 10, in an effort to try new setups and different combinations that might help the car return to top speed.

A total of 31 cars competed at Saturday's race, and by virtue of a draw for starting position, Hall began his night fifth on the grid for his eight-lap heat race. An experimental setup for that race proved to be too conservative and he finished seventh of eight competitors.

That put him in 10th starting spot for the night's B-Main. A tight race car kept him near the middle of the pack for most of the 12 laps on the slick surface, but Hall made a charge at the end and finished seventh out of the 12 competitors in the race. Unfortunately, it was not good enough to transfer him into the night's twin 15-lap A-Main events.

Still, the team continues to learn things that might be applied when they return to the Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, to finish out the Knoxville Championship Cup Series season on Saturday, August 23, and Saturday, August 30. They are also looking at a few more Sprint Invaders Association races before the season ends next month.

The race car is owned by Charles and Doris Hall. Crew members are Darrell Bonesteel, Cole Page, Cass Page and Steve Lindell. Regular sponsors include Maxim Racing, Parker Engines, APC Emmert Metal Fabricators, Super Shox, Chalk Stix Torsion Bars, Marion Dairy Queen, Brake Man Brake Systems, Thompson Aero Service and Seal-It International.

The team is actively seeking additional funding to help with its racing effort.
