John Hall finishes season a good note
by: Stacy Ervin

MARION, IA (Oct. 4) - John Hall and his Left Turn Enterprises racing team finished off the 2008 racing season with the Sprint Invaders Association at its season championship at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa, on Saturday, October 4.

And after a season of struggles, it was finally a little bit of redemption for the team as they were able to find the source of mechanical troubles that had kept them from running up front all year.

Once again, Hall's luck of the draw was lacking and he started the night from the eighth position in his heat race. He was able to get by two cars for a sixth-place finish but it was not enough to transfer directly to the main event.

Slated to start fourth in the first of two B-Mains, Hall got a big break when the two cars on the front row got together at the start of this race and crashed off of the second turn. That put him outside the front row for the restart and he held the second spot and a transfer position throughout the race.

That started him 19thin the 22-car, 25-lap A-Main event, but with 39 cars on hand for the last race of the season, the team already felt like the night was a real victory. A big crash in the beginning stages of the race eliminated two other cars, and fortunately, though Hall had a good view of the carnage, he used quick reflexes to stay out of the action.

After the race got going, Hall was able to pass a few cars and run strong to a 16th-place finish.

The team can now build off the late-season momentum to look toward 2009 and spend the off-season working on solving the mechanical issues.

The race car is owned by Charles and Doris Hall. Crew members are Darrell Bonesteel, Cole Page, Cass Page and Steve Lindell. Regular sponsors include Maxim Racing, Parker Engines, APC Emmert Metal Fabricators, Super Shox, Chalk Stix Torsion Bars, Marion Dairy Queen, Brake Man Brake Systems, Thompson Aero Service and Seal-It International.

The team is actively seeking additional funding to help with its racing effort.
