OSKALOOSA, IA (Aug. 2, 2006) -  Racing action at the Southern Iowa Speedway was held to kickoff the month of August with the second apperance of the O`Reilly Auto Parts United States Modified Touring Series in action along with the Casey`s General Store USRA Weekly Racing Series for the Hobby Stocks and Stock Cars trying to tame the big half-mile.

In the first feature of the night it was the USRA Stock Cars on the car for eighteen laps of action with Nathan Wood of Keswick and T.J. Criss battling the first eight laps for the lead and exchange it several times with Criss before taking the lead on lap nine and lead the final nine laps for the win holding off several challenges from Bobby Greiner Jr. and Pat Rachels and Colt Mather. When the checkers flew Criss was the one in victory lane followed by Bobby Greiner in second followed by Mather in third and Rachels in fourth.

The second feature of the night was the USRA Hobby Stocks division going fifteen laps with Danny Thrasher and Mike Shelton leading the field to the green flag with two and three wide racing going into turns one and two. Nathan Wood would make his way between Thrasher and Shelton for the lead and never look back leading all fifteen laps and take the win. This win was number twenty for Wood in 2006. The battle for second went to Shelton who held off Jared Sanders who took third and Bobby Green got past Rick Landgrede for the fourth spot on the final lap.

In the third and final feature it was the cars and stars of the O`Reilly Auto Parts United States Modified Touring Series in action with a nice field of thirty-one cars check in for action. When the green flag dropped Jason Hughes of Colcord, OK and Fertile driver Kelly Shryock went wheel-towheel for the lead with Shryock taking command. Shryock would hold off the charge from Dean Mahlstedt of Clear Lake who passed Shryock for the lead on lap thirteen after a caution and closed the field up for the restart. Mahlstedt would pass Shryock but Shryock would power back past Mahlstedt and cruise to his nineth straight win. This putting his winnings for the year just under 60,000.
