NIGHT NUMBER ONE OF 10TH ANNUAL FEATHERLITE FALL JAMBOREE

SPRING VALLEY, MN (Sept 18) - AJ Wiste led early in the WISSOTA Midwest modified feature with Travis Krause in second. Albert Wytaske and Mike Hernke raced side by side for the first couple laps until Wytaske took control of third. Further back in the field there was a huge pack of cars battling for the 7th through 15th spot as they were tight and three and four wide through the corners. With four down Wytsake moved into second and started to gain on the leader. Seven laps completed and Wytaske was now side by side with the leader. Wytaske took control of the race on a restart with eight completed. Dan Wheeler started to work forward and moved past Hernke for the fourth position with twelve laps down. With fifteen completed Wheeler worked past Krause for the third spot while Brandon Davis moved past Hernke for the fifth spot after winning his “B” main earlier. Another caution with seventeen to go bunched the field back up behind Wytaske Wytaske was too quick and held onto the lead Wiste sat in second holding off the hard charging Wheeler late in the race. A final restart took place as Davis moved past Hernke on the white flap lap. Hernke dove it down hard in three and didn’t stick as the two touched and spun ending both great runs. Jimmie Arnold was the benefactor of the mistake as he took over the fifth spot on the restart. Wytaske held on for the win followed by Wiste and Wheeler.

The final race of the night was the USMTS feature event. After a ton of racing with 8-18lap heat races and 5-20 lap “B” mains the track was in terrific shape and the 30 car starting field was set. Early on Dereck Ramirez took the lead with Steve Wetzstein in second. Tommy Weder Jr moved up to third with Neil Echkart in fourth early on. Wetzstein worked on Ramirez on the low side of the speedway early on while Jason Hughes moved into the top five with two down. Further back in the field the racing was three and four wide for positions early on. With nine laps completed Tim Donlinger and Al Hejna split Eckhart to race side by side for fifth. A caution with ten down saw some great battles shaping up. Hughes first picked up the second spot from Wetzstein then blasted by Ramirez up against the wall to take over the top spot. Donlinger and Hejna continued their battle now for fourth. The seven car found the line against the wall and in two laps blasted into the second spot only to loose the handle the next lap bringing out the caution. Hughes again led from the restart with Wetzstein taking second and Donlinger now in third. Kelly Shryock moved into fourth and started to pressure Donlinger for third while Ramirez and Jon Tesch were side by side behind them. Tesch took the spot and then moved alongside of Shryock for fourth. With twenty completed Hughes was all alone out front with Wetzstein still in second. The battle for third heated up with Tesch, Donlinger and Shryock all trying to take control of the spot. With three laps left Tesch took over third with Shryock in fourth and Donlinger settling in for fifth. The field stayed that way to the finish with Hughes picking up the $2,000 first place money during night number one of the 10th Annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree.
