GREENWOOD, Neb. (December 19, 2011) - I-80 Speedway will be hosting the 2nd Annual Silver Dollar Nationals, July 20-21, 2012, featuring Super Late Models and the United States Modified Touring Series. This time around, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will join the Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA) in sanctioning the $25,000-to-win Super Late Model portion of the event. In 2011, Jimmy Owens and Scott Bloomquist waged a season-long battle for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series championship with Owens prevailing. Likewise, the 2011 MLRA title fight came down to the wire with John Anderson edging Al Purkey for the crown. The USMTS Modifieds will again run complete shows on both Friday and Saturday night. The Friday program will be a USMTS National Championship Series event paying $4,000 to win and $400 to start. The Saturday night program will be a Casey’s Cup Qualifier paying $2,000 to win and $400 to start. Last year’s contest at the high-banked 4/10-mile clay oval was a barnburner with nine-time USMTS National Champion Kelly Shryock holding off Jason Hughes for the win on Friday night, while Jeremy Payne took home 2,000 shiny new silver dollars on Saturday night. Tommy Myer was the winner in the only other USMTS visit to I-80 Speedway in 2005. The Thursday, July 19, program will consist of open practice for the Super Late Models and USMTS Modifieds plus a complete racing program featuring four weekly classes. Adult tickets will be $12 for adults, $5 for kids ages 6-12 and children 5 and under get in for free. Reserved seat (raised grandstand with individual backed seats) tickets are on sale now. Bleacher seats on both sides of the raised grandstand will be general admission. Adult tickets are for $28 for Friday, July 20, and $32 for Saturday, July 21, for both reserved and general admission seating. General admission tickets for kids ages 6-12 are $10 each day while children age 5 and under are free in the general admission seating. Seventeen backstretch RV parking spots at $300 each are also available overlooking turn 2 and the backstretch. In addition to a premier three-day parking stall, each purchaser receives two pit passes to all three nights of action. Reserved camping spots are also available. If you pre-purchase a three-day grandstand ticket you can also reserve a camping spot free. If you do not pre-purchase your tickets, camping spots will be $25 for the three days.
