The USRA was founded in 2002 with the sanctioning of Modifieds and Stock Cars at one racetrack. Now in its tenth year of sanctioning competitive grassroots dirt track racing, the United States Racing Association will sanction events in five classes at nearly 40 tracks around the country.

In addition to track points funds which are among the highest in the county, the USRA will also dole out a national points fund of more than $60,000 in four classes. A driver’s best 20 events based on points earned from March 4 through Oct. 16 will apply toward USRA Weekly Racing Series national points.

Champions were not crowned in individual divisions during the first five seasons, but Ron Luitjens of Brewster, Minn., was crowned the overall USRA National Champion in 2005. Since 2006, USRA Weekly Racing Series National Champions have been crowned in all four premier divisions.

In 2011, the USRA is also sanctioning USRA Champ Sprint Cars and USRA Western Flyer HotMods at tracks throughout Oklahoma and Texas. The USRA Western Flyer HotMods are combined with the USRA Karl Performance Parts B-Mods for national points competition.
