Opening weekend events moved back a week due to wet conditions

GILMAN CITY, MO (April 3) -  This weekend’s season-opening WORLD Dirt Racing League PolyDome Late Model Series events, scheduled for Davenport Speedway and West Liberty Raceway, have been postponed.

According to series founder and President Jim Wilson, the combination of precipitation and cool temperatures have made it impossible for track officials to prepare the grounds and racing surfaces for this weekend’s events.

“With the amount of rain in the area, we obviously needed warm temperatures and plenty of sun to get things dried out,” noted Wilson. “With the forecast calling for continued cool temperatures throughout the rest of the week, getting things dried and prepared for racing is absolutely impossible.”

According to Wilson, Friday’s scheduled season-opener at Davenport Speedway has been moved to Farley Speedway in Farley, Iowa and will be held a week from this Friday, April 13. Saturday’s scheduled event at West Liberty Raceway will be held on the Muscatine County Fairgrounds half-mile the following night, April 14.

Qualifying both nights will get underway at 6:30 p.m., with racing action set to start at 7:00.
