WDRL HIT DEER CREEK AND QUAD CITY OVER LABOR DAY
By: Bucky Doren
GILMAN CITY, MO (Aug 28) - The WORLD Dirt Racing League brings the Polydome Late
Model Series to Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley,
MN) and Quad City Raceway (East Moline, IL) over the Labor Day Weekend. Race
fans will be entertained with great side-by-side racing both nights with some of
the best Late Model drivers in the country.
Things kick off Saturday, September 1st at Deer Creek Speedway.
The stars of the WDRL will make their annual stop to the 3/8-mile oval in
Southern Minnesota run by the Queensland family. Deer Creek is famous for its
two and three wide racing in the corners. Hot laps are set for 5:00 PM with
racing to follow.
The next night the WDRL Polydome Late Model Series hits the Quad City Raceway
promoted by Brian Stuart. This is the only quarter-mile oval on the 2007
schedule, and things will happen fast. It is also be the first ever visit to the
Quad City Raceway for the stars of the WDRL. Hot laps are slated for 5:00 PM
with racing to follow.
"The Labor Day Duel at Deer Creek (Speedway) is a must see event for a true race
fan," comment Justin Queensland. "When a powerful late model series like the
WDRL comes into town followed up with another exciting series like the USMTS
modifieds, for only twenty bucks, on the same night, I don't see how a race fan
could pass that up."
"Some of our weekly drivers have proven themselves as WDRL winners," added
Queesnland. "Keith Foss and Mark Teske both have grabbed wins in the past with
the series. Adam Hansel is another driver to keep an on this weekend."
The Polydome Late Model Series drivers will be up for the challenge. Current
points leader Brian Harris has scored one win and ripped off eight top ten
finishes in his last ten races.
Second in points Justin Fegers has racked up one win and five top ten finishes
over those same ten races. John Kaanta finds himself in third, and leads the
Rookie of the Year battle.
Some of the other regulars on the WDRL Polydome Late Model Series to keep an eye
on include: Denny Eckrich, Dave Eckrich, Eric Pember, Chris Simpson, Ace Ihm,
Rob Moss, and many more.
Traveling star Brady Smith has also indicated via his web site that he will be
at Deer Creek Speedway Saturday night.
"The WDRL is one of the most competitive late models series in the Midwest,"
Queensland felt. "It's fun to see guys from across the country compete with our
local drivers. The format of the WDRL allows our local stars to showcase their
talent."
"I think when you put a series like the WDRL on a quarter-mile track, things
will get exciting," added Brian Stuart. "And with the way the facilities are set
up at the Quad City Raceway, the fans are right on top of the action."
"Area race fans will be thrilled to see Gary Webb return," said Stuart. "It's
been quite a while since he has raced here. Rob Toland should also be someone to
watch. Our points champion Jason Bahrs will also be pit side."
Jimmy Mars has indicated via his web site that he will also be on hand at Sunday
night.
