WORLD DIRT RACING LEAGUE RELEASES 2008 SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
20 races starting April 5 in Davenport, Iowa, are already listed on tentative schedule with the possibility of more being added later

GILMAN CITY, Mo. (Feb. 12, 2008) -- Rev 'em up! The Midwest-based WORLD Dirt Racing League, one of the country's most popular dirt track touring series, is releasing its tentative 2008 schedule.

"We are excited about 2008," said WDRL president Jim Wilson, who with his wife Nancy founded the series. "And we look for some great things to happen this year."

The season starts out on the historic half-mile Davenport (Iowa) Speedway on Saturday, April 5, then races to the big half-mile in Freeport, Ill., on Saturday April 19. Next up is a Sunday, April 20, event at the quarter-mile Quad City Raceway in East Moline, Ill.

On May 23, the WDRL hotshoes are back at the Davenport half-mile, then it's on to the three-eighths-mile I-80 Speedway in Nebraska on Sunday, May 25.

On Thursday, June 12, the series makes a stop at Superior Speedway in Superior, Wis., then visits Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis., on June 13 and June 14 for "The Masters."

WDRL drivers and fans alike will celebrate Independence Day during a Thursday, July 3, appearance at the famous one-third-mile Eagle (Neb.) Raceway. On Sunday, July 20, the WDRL stars and cars make a trip to the fast three-eighths-mile in Albion, Neb., at the Boone County Fairgrounds.

Wednesday, July 30, finds the touring series back at Superior Speedway in Wisconsin, followed a day later, July 31, by a return visit to Cedar Lake Speedway to lead into the USA Nationals with a 50-lap WDRL race.

On Saturday, Aug. 30, the WORLD Dirt Racing League travels to the beautiful Deer Creek Speedway for a show with the USMTS Modifieds. The next day, Sunday Aug. 31, WDRL is back at Quad City Raceway for another thrilling 50-lap race.

Friday and Saturday, Sept. 5 and 6, finds the series at the Freeport Raceway half-mile for "The Rebel," with a complete racing program each night. On Friday and Saturday, Sept. 26 and 27, WDRL journeys to the fast and furious Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., for two complete races.

The WORLD Dirt Racing League winds up the 2008 season on the Davenport half-mile track on Oct. 3 and 4 with, said Wilson, "a huge surprise coming on this race."

In addition, "we may be adding races as we go because we are still talking to some tracks," Wilson said. "Keep an eye on our Web site, www.worldraceleague.com, for updated information."

Justin Fegers of Mound, Minn., was honored last Nov. 10 as the series 2007 champion at the WORLD Dirt Racing League's champions' banquet, held in Osceola, Iowa.

Fegers wrapped up the championship on the final night of racing when the series made a final stop last fall at Davenport Speedway.

John Kaanta finished second in the final point standings and captured the series' 2007 WDRL Rookie of the Year title.
