FREEPORT, Ill. (June 19) - The drivers of the WORLD Dirt Racing League travel here to Freeport Raceway Park for one great night of racing this Saturday night, June 21.

Mother Nature rained out the event several times, but the weather looks favorable for this Saturday night's race. Hot laps are slated for 5:15 p.m. on the half mile. Group qualifying is set for 5:30 with racing to follow.

Davenport, Iowa, native Brian Harris sits atop of the WDRL Late Model Series point standings. Harris is coming off of a great run over Father's Day Weekend at Cedar Lake Speedway, New Richmond, Wis.

Harris started 18th in Friday night's running of The Masters and drove through heavy traffic to a second-place finish.

John Kaanta of Elk Mound, Wis., is just 21 points back in second place. Kaanta has finished in the top 10 in all three WDRL races held so far in 2008. Kaanta was one of four different winners at Freeport in 2007.

Eric Pember of Pittsville, Wis., is third in WDRL Late Model Series points. Pember raced in the top five all night during Friday's version of The Masters. He found himself in a heated battle with three other drivers for second place. He eventually finished fifth.

Chad Simpson of Mt. Vernon, Iowa, currently finds himself fourth in WDRL points. Simpson looked poised to race for the win in Friday's running of the Masters but was forced to the back after tangling with a lapped car that spun out in front of him. Simpson rebounded nicely and finished 12th.

Frank Heckenast Jr. of Orland Park, Ill., rounds out the top five in WDRL points. Heckenast currently leads the Chase Signs Rookie-of-the-Year point standings. He was awarded the 2005 UMP Rookie-of-the-Year honors and is a viable threat for the 2008 Rookie Award on the WDRL Late Model Series.
