PHILLIPS WINS ALPHABET SOUP RACE AT I-80 SPEEDWAY
Anderson leads until a mechanical problem forces him to the pits

Greenwood, Neb. (July 3, 2008) - Terry Phillips beat 72 of the nation's best dirt Late Model drivers as he took the "Alphabet Soup" win, sanctioned by the WORLD Dirt Racing League, last night here at I-80 Speedway. Phillips has been strong since he brought out his new GRT chassis, and this was another example.

"This is a brand new racecar," Phillips said in Victory Lane. "It's been
awesome since we brought it out."

John Anderson started on the pole for the 50-lap feature after winning the
Iowa-Illinois Taylor Insulation Pole Dash. Anderson kept the 30-car field at
bay as he worked the high side to perfection. Anderson was the car to beat
until a mechanical failure in his ride's rear end forced him to the pits
early. That gave the lead to Phillips.

"I was set-up for a dry, slick track," Phillips stated. "John (Anderson) was
way better than us tonight when the track was wet. I kept waiting for the
track to come to us. I didn't think it would, but it finally did, and we
were catching John. Then I saw his rear end shift, and his night was done."

Kyle Berck battled in the top five throughout the 50-lapper. With 10 laps
remaining, Berck was locked in a battle for fifth. He worked his way through
the top five and heavy lapped traffic to grab second place as the white flag
was displayed. He held that spot for the finish.

Chad Simpson started 13th and found himself in the top five by the midway
point. Simpson raced side by side with Frank Heckenast Jr. during the final
10 circuits. As noted earlier, Berck would join the duo, coming in second.
Simpson finished third, and Heckenast drove home fourth.

The 2007 WDRL Chase Race Decals Rookie of the Year winner, John Kaanta, was
among those battling near the front of the pack. Kaanta rounded out the top
five at the checkers at I-80 Speedway.

The Independence Day on-track fireworks continue tonight, Thursday, July 3.
The WDRL Late Model Series invades Eagle Raceway in Eagle, Neb. On Friday,
the tour hits the Clay County Speedway in Spencer, Iowa.
