WINSTON, MO (July 19, 2014) – With a full pits and packed bleachers the USRA Stock Cars were the first to take the track in their make-up feature for July 12th 2014.  Jake Cameron #86c would jump to the early lead and never look back on his way to claiming victory number one in this 2014 racing season.  Cameron was challeneged every lap by the very fast Dean Wray #77 and Thomas Roberts #65x, Wray would hold Roberts at bay to place second leaving Roberts third.  Jeff Dixon #88 continues to impress in a backup car to place fourth as Richard Moulton #18 would round out the feature’s top five.

The Midwest Lightning Sprints continue to grow in numbers as they were sixteen strong taking on the fast three-eighths mile of dirt.  Last year’s MLS point champion Tony Layne #71 would lead every lap picking up feature victory number one at I-35 Speedway.  Layne would be challeneged late by heat race winner Tom Brown #b20 as they would be side by side at the line with Brown edged by a bumper leaving the #b20 in second place.  The big mover of the feature was Ken Billings #85 coming from back in the pack to place third, as #46 of Dusty Murray placing fourth.  Heat race winner Jason Snider #4t was among the top contenders all feature long as he would slip late to round out the top five.

With a good field of E-Mods the familiar face of three time winner John Brown #36j would smile in victory lane as he would be shown the checkers first.  Exciting racing behind Brown would witness point leader Kit Bailey #77 and heat race winner JR Burge #88b dueling back and forth until Bailey would gain the advantage on the last lap to place second.  Burge would bring home his fast race car in third position, with LeRoy Cameron #6a in fourth.  Young and exciting Nicholas Carpenter #33 would race his way to an impressive fifth place finish.

In their inaugural feature event at I-35 Speedway Mod-Lites would electrify the crowd going green to white to checkers. Dillon Rafferty #46 would cement his name in the history books as the first ever Mod-Lite feature winner on Trenton Coca-Cola Night at the Races.  Mike Rafferty #41 who would lead the majority of the race would fade late to place second with Justin Rafferty #75 third.  Kevin White #33 and Travis Alexander #36 would battle tooth and nail to the bitter end, with White edging Alexander by a mere bumper to place fourth and fifth.  Heat race winners were Mike Rafferty #41 and David Rafferty #64.  Race fans please congratulate these guys on a great first time race and we hope to see them all back at I-35 Speedway very soon.

Austin Johnson #98 would claim feature win number five in the Grand National class this 2014 racing season.  Johnson would use a high side front row starting spot to lead every lap with heat race winner Buz Kaster #54 settling for second.  Mike Taylor #11t would hold off the very fast drive of Houston Johnson #97 and Marty Powell #9p to finish third, leaving Johnson fourth and Powell continuing his consistency in fifth.

With a good field of USRA Hobby Stocks in attendance Brady Link #29 would set sail and pick up the feature win.  Link would lead every lap as good racing ensued for second as John Chip #66 would place second and Greg Gilbert #23g third.  Randy Smith Sr #7k would finish fourth and Scott Snyder #23bs fifth.

Close on several races this season in the USRA B-Mod class the #96c of Jim Cameron would seal the deal as he would claim his first feature win of 2014 at I-35 Speedway.  Big mover of the feature would see Chad Clancy #21c race his way through the pack to finish second.  Doug Keller #77 and Randy Ainsworth #57 would race side by side the entire race with Keller gaining the advantage to place third and Ainsworth fourth.  Gene Claxton was in fine form challenging for the lead early only to fade in the later stages to place fifth.  Heat race winners included Gene Claxton #42, Jim Cameron #96c, and Tim Eaton #211.

As always the USRA Stock Cars do not disappoint anyone in the grandstands with side by side door handle to door handle bumper to bumper racing action throughout the entire pack.   Early race leader Thomas Roberts #65x would work the high line as Dean Wray #77 would work the low line on a near perfect racing surface for over ten laps side by side.  Wray would gain inches each lap to overtake Roberts in the latter stages to pick up the exciting feature victory.  Roberts would maintain momentum finishing a very close second.  Hard pounding action continued behind the two leaders as Trent Jeanes #77t and Jeff Dixon #88 would also battle the entire race side by side.  One slip by Dixon would allow Jeanes to come home third, moving Dixon to fourth.  Returning to the driver’s seat the familiar face of Jason Estes would fill in for Richard Moulton to bring the #18 home in fifth.  Heat race winners were Trent Jeanes and Dean Wray.  Hats off to all drivers in the USRA Stock class for another exciting night of racing.

Fire breathing, alcohol drinking, high flying USRA Modifieds would close out the night’s fast paced racing action.  Zach Sanders #69 would pilot his rocket to lead every lap to victory number four this 2014 season adding to his impressive point lead.  Dennis Elliot #29 would challenge Sanders high and low, would fade in the pack then mount a charge back to the front to place second.  Bud Wilson #75 would make his presence felt challenging the leaders early to place third.  Mark Schafman #34 and Jim Hopkins #71 would use the entire twenty lap feature side by side to determine fourth and fifth.  With Hopkins high and Schafman low a drag race to the checkers would ensue with Schafman placing fourth by nose, leaving Hopkins to round out the night’s top five.  Heat race winners were Bud Wilson and Dennis Elliott.

Three Legged racing at Intermission saw Johnson brothers Austin and Houston in victory lane in a dash to the finish.  We would like to thank all of our great and loyal fans for helping make this night one to remember at I-35 Speedway.  We invite every back next week for Kaster Celebration Night at the Races for more “Dirt Trackin at its Best”.

See you there!
