Springfield, MO(July 19, 2014) – In a race that saw multiple lead changes and lots of passing throughout the field, Zach Chappell emerged victorious with the WAR Series presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps on Saturday night at Springfield Raceway.

Driving the Korte Transportation/Hockett Racing #77, Chappell took the lead from his pole starting position as he was followed closely by Chad Goff, Chris Parkinson, and Taylor Walton.   With the spots rapidly changing behind him among Walton, Josh Stephens, Parkinson, and Devon Huff, Chappell would lead the first four laps before Walton would take over the point running the high side in John Hillman’s #14 on lap five.  Walton would lead through lap seven before Chappell made a charge and took over the top spot again on lap eight with Goff following him for second.  Goff would take over on lap nine as he was followed by Chappell, Walton, and Parkinson.  Another driver on the move during this span of the race was Tim Kent.  Kent took over the fourth spot from Parkinson on lap eleven.  Goff would continue to lead through lap fifteen when Walton’s  fine run would come to an end with a flat tire costing the Warrensburg, MO pilot the third spot and bringing out the yellow flag.

On the restart, Goff ran low with Chappell running the high side.  Goff would lead lap sixteen with Chappell getting a great run on the high side to take over the lead on lap seventeen.

The Talala, OK chauffeur would go on to his first career WAR win in the Hockett Racing DRC with Don Ott power.  Parkinson got by Goff on lap nineteen and would continue his string of great runs with a second in the 54th Street Grill and Bar DRC with Parkinson power.  Goff, who was also fast qualifier on the evening, ran a strong third in his B&D Racing DRC with Kercher-Mopar power.   Huff, who found some good speed on the top side late in the race, was fourth in his Twister with Chevy power.  Stephens was a solid fifth in the Summers  Farms/Stephens Automotive DRC with Gaerte power.  Kent was in the running throughout and would come home sixth in his Risley Trash Service Triple-X with Rose Racing power under the hood.  After a heat race mishap and  a leaking fuel line that sent him to the pits to be fixed as the cars were lining up for the A, Lexington, MO’s Danny Thoman charged from the back of the pack and finished seventh in his Cars Plus Credit #27X.  Dylan Kadous was eighth followed by Pete Palazzolo and John Helm.   Bob Thoman, who was fourth in WAR points heading into the night, got over the bank in turn two and crashed into the retaining wall during heat one ending the Higginsville, MO driver’s night early.

The points race for the WAR title is heating up with Goff leading Parkinson by eight points heading into next weekend’s race at the Midway Speedway in Lebanon, MO on Saturday July 26.  Please go to www.warsprints.com or join the WAR Series on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/groups/122872191163959/  to find out more about the WAR Series presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps.
