After Night Four, Brian Brown Leads the Cox Design Iowa Speed Week Points

KNOXVILLE, IOWA (August 3, 2014) – Following the first five features of the ten-race 2014 Cox Design & Metal Fabrication Iowa Speed Week, ‘360’ Knoxville Nationals champion Brian Brown of Missouri leads the point standings which will crown this year’s Jesse Hockett “Mr. Sprint Car” titlist.  Night four featured Ian Madsen of New South Wales, Australia, winning the third annual (Ralph) Capitani Classic open-competition winged 410-cubic-inch sprint car feature at the Knoxville Raceway.  Night number five is Monday, August 4, with the nineteenth annual American Sprint Car Series (ASCS)-sanctioned Casey’s General Stores/Musco Lighting Front Row Challenge, presented by Don Long’s Searsboro Telephone Company, for winged 360-cubic-inch sprint cars at the Southern Iowa Speedway in nearby Oskaloosa.

 

The unofficial top sixteen in the 2014 Cox Design Iowa Speed Week points after three nights is as follows:  1., Brian Brown, 147 points; 2., Mark Dobmeier, Jason Johnson, Ian Madsen, 135 points (tied); 5., Davey Heskin, 127 points; 6., Tony Bruce, Jr., 125 points; 7., Bronson Maeschen, 123 points; 8., Terry McCarl, 121 points; 9., Tim Shaffer, 117 points; 10., Danny Lasoski, 114 points; 11., Sammy Swindell, 108 points; 12., Kevin Swindell, 98 points; 13., Randy Hannagan, 96 points; 14., Brady Bacon, Joe Beaver, 91 points (tied); 16., Sam Hafertepe, Jr., 90 points.

 

The Cox Design & Metal Fabrication Iowa Speed Week includes ten points-paying sprint car feature races in ten days, July 31 – August 9, between the Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville and the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa.  The top three places pay $2,500, $1,000, and $500, respectively, with the winner declared the Jesse Hockett “Mr. Sprint Car” titlist.  Past “Mr. Sprint Car” titlists include Ricky Logan (2002) of Arkansas, Shane Stewart (2003, ’04) of Oklahoma, Billy Alley (2005) of Nebraska, Jason Johnson (2006) of Louisiana, Wayne Johnson (2007, ‘08) of Oklahoma, Terry McCarl (2009) of Iowa, Sammy Swindell (2010, ‘11) of Tennessee, Kyle Larson (2012) of California, and Kevin Swindell (2013) of Tennessee.
