Allen Tippen Tastes CCSDS Victory Lane for the First Time

| September 4, 2016

West Memphis, Arkansas (09/03/16) – For the second time in as many nights the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) presented by Lucas Oil saw a first-time winner in victory lane. Minden, Louisiana’s Allen Tippen wired the field in Saturday evening’s $2,500-to-win affair at Riverside International Speedway to claim his inaugural CCSDS victory.

“David (Peterson) has given me a great opportunity to drive one of his cars, and it’s just an honor to get to do it every night,” said Tippen. “I got into a lapped car early in the race, and I was afraid it might ruin our chances at the win, but luckily that wasn’t the case. It feels great to finally win one of these.”

Series rookie Mason Oberkramer and Tippen brought the field to the green at the historic, ¼-mile oval. Tippen took over the lead at the drop of the green flag and despite a trio of cautions that regrouped the field he kept his foes behind him for the distance. Oberkramer ran in the runner-up slot for the duration of the feature, while Ray Moore wrestled the 3rd-spot from Chris McElhenney on the final lap. Jack Sullivan completed the Top 5.

Black Diamond Race Cars Heat Race #1 was won by Mason Oberkramer with Allen Manufacturing Heat Race #2 being claimed by David Payne. M&M Paint & Construction Heat Race #3 was won by Allen Tippen, while Chris McElhenney won ROCKHARD Powder Coating Heat Race #4.

Mark Martin Powersports B-Main #1 was topped by Austin Theiss with Jonathan Rowan winning Arctic Cat B-Main #2.

The Henryetta Ford Hard Luck Award went to Austin Theiss, who saw mechanical issues end his feature outing early, while the Larry Shaw Race Cars Hard Charger Award was claimed by Jonathan Rowan, who advanced six spots to an 8th-place finish.

The Triple Crown draws to a close on Sunday, September 4 at Greenville Speedway (Greenville, Mississippi) with a $2,500-to-win/ $350-to-start affair. Time trials, heat races, consolation events, and the feature event will all be a part of the program. This will be third appearance of the year for the tour at the ¼-mile oval with Bub McCool and Hunter Rasdon splitting the first two wins. NeSmith Crate Late Models, NeSmith Street Stocks, Factory Stocks ($750-to-win/$50-to-start), and Outlaw Hobbies, will all be in action. Gates open at 4 p.m. with racing action at 7 p.m. Adult grandstand admission is $20 for adults with kids (ages 6-to-14) $5, and children (ages 5-and-under) free.
