BARRON MOTOR SUPPLY SEASON CHAMPIONSHIPS THIS FRIDAY NIGHT AT HAWKEYE DOWNS SPEEDWAY

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (Aug 22, 2012) — This Friday night, August 22th, Barron Motor Supply presents “Season Championships” at Hawkeye Downs Speedway- Eastern Iowa’s premier racing facility.

A full night of heat and feature action in the Papa John’s Cup/ i-Wireless Championship Series is on tap with Performance Concepts Late Models, Mountain Dew Sportsmen, Budweiser Modifieds, Barron Motor Supply Hobby Stocks, Sunline Hornets, and Dublin City Pub Legend Cars taking to the track. Champions will be named in each division at the conclusion of each feature.

The first event on the program Friday night is the Anderson Automotive Trophy Dash which this week features 6 drivers from the Barron Motor Supply Hobby Stock  division battling it out for six laps in pursuit of a trophy.

Kids will want to come out and “Trick or Teat” at Intermission as drivers will be on hand with candy for their young fans.

While some of the division races have mathematically been decided there’s still room for surprises with a couple of the divisions.

The closest battle is with Sunline Hornets where Kurt Bohnsack and Shane Hanson are tied at the top of the point chart with 619 points each.

The Dublin City Pub Legends division is currently led by Kevin Korsmo with Dennis Diercks still within striking distance in second.

Likewise, in Performance Concepts Late Models, Thor Anderson currently leads Brad Osborn for the title but he doesn’t have the title locked up just yet.

Other divisions are similarly close but the leaders have to take the green flag in the feature to guarantee their titles.

This is the last chance of the season for fans to come out and cheer for their favorite drivers!

The Front Gate opens at 6pm with Hot Laps slated for 6:35 pm. Pre-Race Ceremonies will begin at 7:15pm with the first race at 7:30pm.

Adult admission  is STILL just $10, Senior Citizens (62+) are $7, Students over 12 are just $5, College Students are just $5 with a valid ID and Children 12 and Under are absolutely FREE!
